I said "If this year is like last year" :-) Anyway - I know nothing. I'm just giving it until the end of the year before I go back to my "pre-October-2013" mode of thinking. Richard Its only really over once there is nothing else to find anywhere, regardless of who finds it of course. Since missing episodes are only know to exist when found then we will never really know when everything still existing has been turned up of course! Hope that makes sense to one and all. Because of private collectors, and the fact what should of been junked clearly wasnt at times. We are in a position where how long is a piece of string scenario ! Things could turn up for many years to come !

It's actually a scary predicament; A film collector dies suddenly as he has Fury from the Deep in his collection. His family can either send the lot off to an auction house/private collector or junk it, as no member of the family has any interest in it. It's like John Cura's Tele-Snap collection. The BBC weren't interested in it so his wife destroyed the lot. Unless there's someone there to catch these cans as they're tossed out we might start missing more opportunities...

If i was a betting man i would release anything just before new season starts ! I just hope that if these people die their families think hard before ditching in a skip !

I would be very surprised if any collectors in this age of the internet, forums and 24/7 Doctor Who on demand did n't appreciate the value of any Who in their collection. If they're not prepared to share it with the world at large there is bound to be a private market where it gets traded. All this secrecy does have the positive of creating the right environment where bargains can be struck and trades conducted.

All this secrecy does have the positive of creating the right environment where bargains can be struck and trades conducted. This is only possible if they can make some legal agreement guaranteeing an episode's uniqueness. Otherwise you'll be in a City-of-Death/Mona-Lisa scenario. Richard

I admitted that it was all over on January 1st 2014. I just have the feeling that if there was any more we would know about it by now.

July and August 2014 mark the 40th anniversary of the wiping of 'Mission to the Unknown' and Fury from the Deep', so I wouldn't despair just yet. The Doctor told that its Christmas in 'Time of the Doctor' replies 'it's July, checking his watch. Something to think about.

I think that was probably when 'The Time of the Doctor' was being filmed....but good try though!

Lou, do you really believe that there are individuals out there have access to and have viewed material currently known to be missing? And in what context? Yes - me for one. Remember that long thread when I started here that people were slamming me for? I stated there that I had seen a little bit. Moreover, I mentioned that several people claimed to own at least half of the missing episodes at the time; if true, that would mean at least 32 more episodes are "known" to exist.

Had the session tapes and then an authorised re-release not happened, "Smile" by The Beach Boys would have been at the top of this list. I know (as in, 'friends of mine have allowed me to listen to their copies of their bootlegs') of one by Neil Young, the infamous "The Sicilian Defence" by the Alan Parsons Project (was on YouTube last night if you want to take a look [track titles are each of the first 6 full moves of the Classical Variation]), and one by Prince that the label rejected. Heck, "Chinese Democracy" by Guns & Roses would have made this list 5 years ago. Yes, I know you rumour was a joke, but it could be true. That's my point. Some of us have listened to music others have not, just as some of us have seen extant material of Doctor Who which are no longer in the BBC archives. Thanks Lou - i will sleep easier now ;o) And yes, I had the Chinese Democracy Demos years before the album came out. If only some lost TV as well! You are welcome. There are lots of pop music sites that keep track of these things. I lived in the world of Beatles bootlegs. I loved hearing all those demos of songs that they wrote and tested for other groups plus stuff they recorded and didn't bother to release. I also heard lots of other music out there that hasn't been released. It's really cool when you get to hear them.

IIRC Frank Zappa managed to record lots of material that's never been officially released, & once managed to get some included on a radio show with the request to "tape it if you like".
In the 1990s Pearl Jam used to go years between albums but were performing new material on tour. I remember my Dad reading something that reckoned they were the most bootlegged band.

Since I visit this board and other missing episode threads less frequently I'm thinking nothing will show up anytime in the near future. Maybe Morris has a few more surprises but I kind of doubt it.
