It's ok not to forget about things, but to bang on about it constantly is self defeating. It all comes down to the context of history. That's not me giving the BBC a free pass, it is an imperfect beast, but it had policies and those were the ones of the day. Those policies were probably different in the 1940's. Things do change. Hancock, Till Death, The Black and White Minstrels all for some reason or another have contained things that are not acceptable in today's society. But they were the norm in their own time in the TV landscape. It is sad to think that I might never to get see a lot of those early episodes. I accept that they have probably gone. I rejoice in what we do have and would welcome any new finds.

"The BBC doesn't owe anyone anythBing." But it does though ... it owes us every single programme it wiped; programmes made with public money, money from us lot and people like us. They were OUR programmes and the BBC wiped them. Was it not sales of the early programmes to Australia - that covered and offset the BBCs production costs? So if you find anything missing.... give it back to the ABC! We payed for it. LOL. ;-)

As we head closer to Nov 23rd the odds of an announcement re: recovered eps shortens each day(IF anything has been found of course) - I keep coming back here every few hours in anticipation and if there's been a flurry of posts my heart quickens a little - So 3 pages worth overnight made me pretty excited - but no it was a divergence into the reasoning behind the original wiping policy - oh well - I live in hope.... Fingers crossed for the next mass-postings

I'd have thought the closer we get to November 23rd, the less likely we are to hear anything ... though I'd think it's a reverse exponential relationship, with days to November 23rd on the X-axis.

As time goes on, we will get back to normally.
That being said, the one negative I hope doesn't happen is the search for missing episodes to be discouraged.
The odds of episodes found today are exactly the same as they were before the rumor. And proper research for missing episodes is looking for places where episodes might be and reporting that the RT. Not looking for things that might have been recovered by others already.
Hopefully there are at least a couple more out there.

Hopefully there are at least a couple more out there. In addition to the 90, yes.

Does anyone think these episodes, if found, are being used in "An Adventure in Space and Time"? Like if it shows a scene on the monitor of an episode the cast are filming, do you reckon if there are missing episodes recovered, they'll sneak real footage from said episode onto the monitor, as if the characters in the film did it? Long shot, I know, but I thought someone else might have thought of that by now.

If there aren't any, then the chances of an announcement are zero. That isn't going to change, whatever the date!

Using my logic as we go further from nov 23 rd the odds will lengthen again. Although the real odds of an episode actually existing will remain constant. Hmmm. My brain hurts. Time for another drink methinks

Time for another drink methinks While we're all rooting to hear an announcement on November 23rd or earlier, taking a date, however important, and expecting all the complicated negotiations to be sorted by that date is perhaps hopeful.
