Hi William I wondered if you could shed any light on the rather curious appearance of Hughie Green on TYLS first show? He sang here.. www.youtube.com/watch?v=NZtZAzBkbJUQuite bizarre for a pop show eh ? As (I think?) the first show was on April 1st -I wondered if it was some sort of joke he was in on? LOL Also I wonder if he actually appeared or there was some strange set piece to accompany it? Hi Peter, It's no trouble at all,I like doing the research... To let you decide I have NME's from 1962 onwards and every one so far has something about "Thank Your Lucky Stars" not always a large article, mostly it's down to who was on the show that week so this aspect of the thread could run and run... So If you want me to continue with the minutiae of the show I'll do the best I can, but, if you think that's enough, then that's o.k. and I'll still do research on other previous queries. To me thanks to forum members such as yourself asking me questions this thread, like the good old Dr.can re-invent itself and take on(new)life and away we go again on a new adventure! cheers William

No need to do it all the time though. Devote more of your time to other aspects of pop if you so wish. Thanks Kev

Hi Kev and Peter, Thanks for your comments (much appreciated)I'll carry on with the "Thank Your Lucky Stars" thread then... but I won't let it dominate the thread,so there's always room for (other shows) to be researched (at my leisure)

Glad you liked the info Peter,
I found this about Don Arrol from another website
Don Arrols' story is a sad one. He was a Glasgow born comedian who made a name for himself and then got the prestigious Palladium gig when he was in his early 20s. Sadly his wife died in a car crash and I think also his daughter was killed. Despite this blow he continued and he was popular in theatres and in particular the Glasgow Alhambra 5 past 8 shows. In 1966 he remarried, but he suffered a heart attack in 1967 and died aged just 38 leaving behind his daughter from his first marriage and his wife and new baby daughter.
talk about a tragic life!

Indeed. My parents remember him on the Palladium show.
