Next to nothing survives of Bonzos' drummer "Legs" Larry Smith as his "Mr. Wonderful" character, but these extracts from ITV's "The Big Show" do survive - ably augmented by Garrett Gilchrist with other footage - in order to let us experience, as best we can, the magic of "Legs". Until one day, hopefully, the full video may be experienced. I don't believe this has been on Youtube before, so enjoy! I presume the whole sequence does survive...somewhere. Would be lovely to see it all one day! www.youtube.com/watch?v=d3FRlJB3_f4&feature=youtu.be

That doesn't surprise me, but thanks anyway! I presume the available clips are either from Canyons of his Mind or Inside the Bonzos. Still magic tho!

I think Chris Perry said the colour masters of 'The Big Show' have also been discovered- not sure though

I couldn't actually follow whether there were or were not 'Big Show' finds at the BFI.Anyone? It also had an ITC international title of 'Showtime' - maybe CP was talking about 'Spotlight' and I got them mixed up?

Would be amazing if true. Also interesting to note Sam Spoons still with the group, but no Vernon or Neil!
Just wondering if this means the 23/6/68 date is right now...!

How odd! The caption lists 1967.
I thought both Sam and Vernon were drummed (and bassed) out in late December '67/early Jan '68. Certainly neither are on the Jan '68 DNAYS.
I suppose this just suggests that the March '68 extract in discussion here must have been taped in late '67. Still doesn't explain the lack of both Vernon *and* Neil, though!

I'm a bit worried about the dates-especially sice IMDB splits 'Showtimes' between season 1 and 'unknown season',with shows from the spring or summer of 1968 assaigned to one or another seemingly arbitrarily. There's a show listed for 10th June 1968 and another for 23rd.?
Are UK and US airdates mixed together here?

TVTimes bills the Bonzo's to appear on the 23rd June 1968 edition. It was not unusual for shows to be taped a good 6 months before broadcast, The Small Faces on “Morecambe & Wise” for example was recorded April 67 and shown in October.

Syd,
A fair point - just unusual for the Bonzos. Generally, I believe, the DNAYS episodes were recorded within two weeks of broadcast. Must have been odd for the long-sacked Sam Spoons watching himself with his old band. Pretty much the opposite of when Magical Mystery Tour was shown and he was still very much in the band, yet his appearance was cut down to mere seconds!
