There isn't any consistency.
What I want to do - eventually, and it will take MONTHS, YEARS - is get lists to improve the Popscene and Poptastic databases (Neil Barker and Pete Seaton's ones) to list everything, be it promo film or miniscule excerpt of TOTP that exists, SO I CAN GIVE THEM THAT INFO.

Another one to add Ray... Rolling Stones - Have You Seen Your Mother Baby Standing In The Shadows (Promo shown on totp 22/09/1966)

Forgive me if I'm being thick, but actual sources are getting increasingly confusing. (No fault of anyone on here). I thought there were no surviving pre-1970 TOTPs' in colour - even orphan clips. But it seems as well as the rehearsal opening credits for the Christmas '69 show, there's the actual Marmalade appearance (lovely and clear) and possibly others too. What's the truth here?

There isn't much in colour from before 1970. The Marmalade clip survives as it was re-used in Pop Go The Sixties a week later. There's a bit of rehearsal footage for Xmas Day '69 and a clip of The Stones doing Honky Tonk Women (courtesy of Bob Pratt). Some camera run-through footage of the audience dancing to Sugar Sugar from a separate edition as well. There isn't much else but this is all fairly well known about now.

There is also a complete colour performance of Clodagh Rodgers 'Goodnight Midnight' from Xmas Day '69. I've also seen a short clip of Scaffold's 'Lily The Pink' from the same edition but have never found out if the complete performance exists. I always presumed these were part of the Bob Pratt Tapes. Can anyone confirm if indeed they are?

They are, yes. I'd forgotten the Clodagh clip but the Scaffold fragment is all there seems to be.

No. It was filmed at the Who's Managers' office if I recall or their record company. No miming involved....but they didn't show it on TOTP then.... (29/12/66) - crowd dancing; 12/01/1967 (appearance).
Was shown in the 90's on TOTP2....

Yes that's the one. That's the reason is said i'm unsure
I've always been puzzled about this, The Who fan club seem convinced that it originated from totp
They say it's from 22/12/1966 and the fact that TOTP2 showed it on 19/5/04 added to the mystery.

I've heard reference to an intended TOTP film for the song too. Maybe it's a similar situation to the one for Dead End Street where the film was shot independently with TOTP in mind but was never actually used that way?

It's a great video (it's been released, by the way), and I think it was record company/management-funded.
