The Professionals (not a fan myself) and the Norman Conquests sets are only two of a very small number of big hitters in the mediocre upcoming pile of 2014 Network releases though. A veritable swamp of cinema B movies but very little in the way of strong TV! Very disappointing indeed. Nothing in b&w,I believe, nor anything previously thought lost...

Am I right in thinking that we've gone from listing on Amazon which weren't showing up on Network's own site,to Network's forthcoming titles e.g. 'That's My Boy' not yet listed on Amazon?

An intriguing post on Network's Facebook page: "As many of you have noticed, we have temporarily shifted priorities with regards to the releasing of our films and TV titles, but we assure you we have a very exciting announcement coming up in a month or so that we just cannot release at the moment for a number of reasons. But, we assure you, it’ll be worth the wait for all of you classic TV fans…" The wish lists and theories begin anew!

Trouble is,it always reminds me of British comics in the 1960s.An announcement on the cover of "Great news inside,Chums!" meant that the title was going to be cancelled!
Seriously, hoping for great things, though the last 'special announcement' was a damp squib.

Yes, I can't imagine what they have lined up that's classed as "a very exciting announcement". What hasn't already been released by them which would count as being that big? "Great news inside, chums!": I remember that well! I see that on page 2 of this thread I listed many programmes that Network have still to release from the main ITV companies. Most of that list still applies (only a handful have been since released; some only in part) so regardless of any new deals they've clinched, there is still an awful lot of quality stuff for them to bring out.

Of course,if Network announced loads and loads of new classic TV releases on DVD,they'd be coming out just in time for the Christmas market...

Thinking logically about it though, a 'big' announcement could surely only mean something as important as, say, releases of BBC or Rediffusion shows or maybe downloads. I can't imagine they're talking about individual series here.

I can't imagine they're talking about individual series here. You're right.I've been day-dreaming that 'big' might mean as many classic TV series as they've been releasing films, but they must come from somewhere, just as there was a particular source/archive for the films. Of course,it could be that the 'Big Night Out' DVD set is going to be relisted. That's 'big'! Amazon and others still have it scheduled, though Network have removed it from their 'forthcoming' list...

Perhaps they've managed to find something previously missing during their archive searches in preparation for future releases. Network have uncovered things before (such as missing episodes of The Fellows and It's Dark Outside) which didn't cause too much of a splash, but if it's a sufficiently well-known series, it could count as Big News.

Provided any new deal wasn't with the BBC (who seem to have their archive pretty well catalogued) there's a chance for some new discoveries/finds/whatevers.
