Stated that the official archives were gutted by a fire in the early 80's,and a good deal,if not most?,early TopPop performances were lost.I am sad to announce that it appears that the 1971 "Funny Funny" performance is listed as being wiped in the official archives here. Cheers,Lance. In the official Dutch 'Toppop' book (Richard Groothuizen) there is no reference to such a fire nor that the early archive was destroyed. They do emphasize however there is a chunk from 1975 missing, for some reason it was wiped, although some of those clips do still exist. www.youtube.com/watch?v=zP6Oq78F2MYLots of early footage was broadcast by Ned 1 and Ned 2 which are Dutch terrestrial stations during 1999 and 2000. On Jozsef's Abba link above the 'Waterloo' episode from Monday 29 April 1974 only survives on 'video cassette recorder' according to the information on that webpage however from the same episode Terry Jack's 'Seasons in the Sun' survives in broadcast quality because it's on the BR music DVD 1973-1974. www.youtube.com/watch?v=iA6BqS9FlQ0

This is from the same poster as the wiped Super 8mm Judy Teen material.States is from a video promo, honestly has the look of an early TV performance.Second thoughts. This is also for Cockney Rebel-Judy Teen-1974? www.youtube.com/watch?v=TYo55YzwAfEThis looks like it could possibly be a record company promo. It contains similar elements and a similar look to the ELO: 10538 Overture promo that was made in this way (both bands also had the same record company in EMI). It's a possiblity anyway.

Good news reference Toppop, yesterday I sent an email to Avro, the Dutch company who own the rights to the Toppop archive and received a prompt reply from no other than Richard Groothuizen who is the researcher and writer of the 1999 Toppop book. He also researched and produced the programme database, indeed the final chapter in the Toppop book lists every artist/group who appeared, with dates and whether it was a 'studio' or 'promo film' performance. Although a chunk of 1975 was wiped there was 'NO FIRE' in the '80s, as Richard Groothuizen says it's just an 'idle rumour'.
Vraag/Opmerking: Greetings from England. I have just 1 question about Avro's Toppop. I know that the archive from March-November 1975 was wiped but is it true that lots of early Toppop archive was destroyed by a fire in the early '80s? Kind regards Nic Afdeling: tv
No, the fire is just a idle rumour…… Kind regards, Richard Richard Groothuizen Business Development & Sales T: +31 (0)35 - 6717293

Hi Jeff. Wings Hi Hi Hi is the promo film, available on the McCartney Years (they did C Moon also), and I believe was short in Southern's studios in Northam. Question IS the It's Lulu show and was on Sounds of the Seventies. Great footage, thanks for posting!

This one’s new to me, Curved Air doing “Phantasmagoria”, said to be from Austrian TV and probably rec/tx'd summer 1972 (Album released April). Anyone have any idea what show this could be from? www.youtube.com/watch?v=i80560ysf50

Anyone have any idea what show this could be from? www.youtube.com/watch?v=i80560ysf50Popscope? Could be, or its’ forerunner “Go Go Scope”, but the split second glimpse of the presenter at the start of the clip doesn’t suggest a dedicated pop show to me, but maybe they just weren’t that hip in Austria in 1972, at least TV personality wise. I see there was a thread about Popscope / Go Go Scope on this forum late last year..... missingepisodes.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=totp&action=display&thread=5672
