As always, I am continuing to look for vintage and lost UK TV material of the 1960's and 1970's. Have had some interesting results of late, have a look for yourself what I have found:

I have also found a compilation of early black and white performances of the legendary Beatles ! The last two performances look like they might not be represented in the archive. However the quality is not the best at times, so please bear with that, and enjoy some songs with John, Paul, Ringo, and George:

I am not sure if this TOTP performance exists or not. Looks like this could be a lost TOTP promo film of yet again the fabulous Beatles playing Get Back in 1969 Top Of The Pops. Could this be the clip here of The Beatles-Get Back- Broadcast 8th May, 1969 Jimmy Savile Promo Video. If so, what a find this is, if not no worry, still a great clip to watch, enjoy:

The Chicory Tip is from Disco
The Schools out exists and is from Glam Rock vid 1
The Cliff Richard exists and was shown on BBC Sounds of the sixties (will they show this one on TOTP2 Eurovision special next Saturday)
The Kinks is from Pop Goes The 60's (BBC ZDF Combo)
The Mud Dynamite is a Dutch promo
The Animals is from Ed Sullivan
The Hollies is from German Beat Beat Beat (the forerunner to Beat Club)
The Showaddywaddy is "Dancin Party" 1977 and does exist
The Smokie is from 1977 and exists

Those Beatles Intertel clips from November 1965 could have come from any source; they've appeared on literally dozens of boot vids and DVDs, usually alongside alternate versions, too.

Yeah those Beatles Intertel promos have been kicking about many years usually credited as TOTP clips which is of course, untrue. They did donate two or three to TOTP for use in the 1965 Xmas Specials and I think one or two may had been shown in the 1966 Xmas specials too, but the reason they did multiple versions of some songs was so TOTP would receive one version, "Ready Steady Go!" and/or "Thank Your Lucky Stars" would get a different one so each show could claim to "exclusivity".

Is amusing to see the infamous fish and chips clip where they're barely miming, which Brian Epstein was appalled by so he wouldn't sell it! Amusing that one was made in the first plaice. (Ouch! Sorry, couldn't resist)

Thanks for your hard work digging all those out!

The Queen Seven Seas... clip can be downloaded as an MPEG file from here www.steve-p.org/pop/missing.htm 2 different captures of the same clip. On one of them the colour drops in a couple of times so it wasnt recorded on a B+W VCR.

Here's another Pans People clip from the same person who uploaded the other one - its headed up Pans People 1969? However they are dancing to Fifth Dimension - Wedding Bell Blues which if it is the TOTP performance would be from 22 January 1970:

Blimey! Thanks for these. As always these raise many questions. This latest batch all of Pans People and the audience look in great quality. However note the poster says the copyright belongs to the BBC.

I'm beginning to wonder if these clips do actually exist at the BBC. When Keith Badman did a piece on the first colour edition years ago in Record Collector magazine (it was a sporadic series where he'd look at individual editions) he claimed that though that show was lost there existed "some" colour material from the earliest colour shows at the BBC. There were no details as to what this material was. MAYBE all this footage is the material he was referring to? Maybe I'm totally wrong.

Either way its fascinating to see all this stuff.
