I've been searching the net for Cheggers Plays Pop info but with little success. Can anyone help with a couple of queries please?
1) Do all the episodes still exist in the archives?
2) Can anyone point me to a list of bands and artists that appeared on the show? The reason I ask is that I seem to recall a few punk/new wave/mod bands appearing and I would imagine that they rarely (if ever) got tv airtime so I'd like to track them down if at all possible.
Many thanks if anyone can help.

Thanks William. I didn't realise the show ran until 1986 although the period I'm interested in is mainly 78-81. I didn't take The Jam splitting up in 82 very well at all and spent the next decade concentrating on collecting 60s stuff until Britpop brought back harmony guitar pop in place of synths!

I know The Beat appeared on the show. I think they played 'Can't Get Used To Losing You' and they may have also appeared doing 'Save It For Later'.

Stephen, hope you caught "Be my Baby: the story of girl groups' on BBC1 tonight for plenty of archive Bananarama footage. It even included Cheggers interviewing them although I'm pretty sure this was in his roving reporter role on 'Swap Shop'. Good to see that they used some different archive stuff tonight; I'd totally forgotten about Susanna Hoffs appearing solo on Wogan.
One particular performance I'm trying to locate from Cheggers Plays Pop is The Chords playing 'Something Missing' from around March 1980. According to their fan club diary, they rerecorded this single specifically for the show. Any info gratefully received.

The Chords performing "Something Missing" was on CPP on 19/5/80. Also on that show were Martha and the Muffins ("Saigon") and Rocky Sharpe and the Replays ("Teenager in Love").

CPP was re-run a while back on satellite can't remember which channel and I think not all shows were re-run.
I know the Slade performance of give us a goal in 1978 exists (I think most editions do exist though.)

Cheers Gary, YouTube is certainly a wondrous thing! Good news that CPP has been repeated on satellite so hopefully some channel like Challenge might pick it up again in the future. Hopefully they will show all editions and not just cherry pick the ones with 'name' bands on them.

Apparently 7 shows missing, from as late as 1984 (according to http://www.lostshows.com). I am truly astonished! Shurely shome mishtake?
