Look, this is probably more of Phil's optimism (which I appreciate, don't get me wrong) but maybe he really knows something this time. On this tweet regarding the animation of Web of Fear he has made a few ambiguous comments and I was hoping all of you could throw in your 2 cents.
Thanks .

Not the first time he's said stuff like that.
I'll believe it when it's on my shelf.
Besides, if that were the case, why would they not remove the Steelbook as well?

Though there's this tweet, does anyone know if anything came out of this?

Hello I have been reading this forum for a while on and off and this is my very first comment. I just wanted to point out that Philip Morris is dropping some very suggestive comments in reply to this tweet. I understand that Philip Morris has a history of seemingly suggesting things that aren’t true or seeming to drop hints that never really lead anywhere. Are his responses to this tweet par for the course or is there reasonable excitement that we may be getting Web 3? He seems to be far too suggestive of this possibility for it not to be true... sorry for the ramble but would love to hear the opinion of those far more experienced than I!

I was hoping so too, but that film print looks too short to be a Doctor Who episode. See below an episode of The Time Meddler.

Well, I hope this is true. Phil cant afford any more balls ups, he has lost a great deal of trust and credibility amongst the fans over some of his claims and on-line battles and ravings. I suspect he has known exactly who had this print from Day 1, and fingers crossed, he has found it. If he hasnt and its another waste of time, then as far as I am concerned, Ill never believe another word he utters.

I really really hope that there is something in this. The loss of Web 3 must be singularly one of the worst and saddest incidents in the whole of the ME saga...

I suspect he has known exactly who had this print from Day 1, and fingers crossed, he has found it. I'd say it's more likely that he's no real nearer to knowing who has it than Day 1. He's always been convinced that the station manager was bribed by someone within whom he confided (or maybe someone who they then confided in), and presumably he is still of that opinion given that he recently pointed the finger at the Fitzroy lot. Who knows, maybe Phil's prime suspect is actually Ian Levine?!? He has a track record of holding on to missing episodes for an extended period, Phil was recently critical of him describing him (IIRC) as a "law unto himself", Phil may well have confided in him directly or indirectly, he presumably has the required set-up to store tapes safely, he knew that the pending return was 9 episodes of Web/Enemy before it was formally announced and presumably he was a member of the Fitzroy Crowd. Personally, I wouldn't rely on it being in private hands at all and if it is, it would seemingly make more sense to be with a collector rather than a DW fan.

Whilst I was and always will be happy to have Web and Enemy in my collection and eternally greatfull to all those that have tracked down all missing episodes in the past, and continue there sterling efforts, we have been here before. This episode has been hanging over forums like this for years due to circumstances. Until such a time as there is an offical announcement the print remains missing. Yes we would all love it back. But like so many believe it when I see it. Plus if there are any remaining negotiations taking place for any missing material we need to remain cautious in our approaches on here. Fingers crossed one day....

How thick is the tape? Is it 1/4 inch reel to reel? Any chance that might be from a telcan recording and only 15-20mins long?

I can't believe Ian is a possible suspect unless he suffers from a condition called Munchhausen's Syndrome by proxy-you know where people have a pathological desire for glory whilst at the same time instigating the crisis;Ian having stolen Web 3 only to personally recover it to the eternal gratitude of Dr Who fandom!
