Please can someone clarify what this (albeit cautious) optimism is based on?
I’m aware that the WOF DVD & Blu-Ray (but not the Steelbook) have disappeared from pre-order on Zoom, whilst still being available on other sites including Amazon. I’m also aware that in response to the current speculation, Phil has said that he “couldn't possibly comment”.
Is that it? Or am I missing something?

That's about the size of it Andy. We still have only vague comments and the item removed from sale on 1 site. Like others have said would like some concrete proof....

Was there previously an exact release date for it on Amazon? Because I've just looked and there isn't now.

Well IF the Amazon listing should disappear altogether then we have a different situation as it stands we are no forward knowing why Zoom has taken it down. Think that is still the same as yesterday?...

Has anyone that placed a pre order for this with Zoom? Received any communication as to why they can't fulfill the order

Normally, (I mean if Phil wasn't teasing this) I would just go with the zoom thing, but Phil's comments make me think that something's up.

Think that is still the same as yesterday?... Possibly because Zoom is a smaller on-line company so can make changes faster than Amazon which is massive?Just thinking out loud...but part of me thinks it's impossible looking at the time-line between the announcement of the animation and PMs possible recovery. History has shown that there are huge intervals between recovery and announcements and so if Web 3 had been found, there wouldn't have been publicity declaring it had already been animated.

Another logical response Jaspal. I've been mulling this over all day trying to make this seem sense. But why announce an animation if you already have it? And the chances of it being recovered since the animation has been announced? I think I have my answer. We all want this so much to be found. My thoughts as per the original question posed: Sadly I don't think this is Webs 3 time yet. I remain forever hopeful of seeing it in my lifetime. All the best everyone

I don't normally speculate on these things, or comment. I will make an exception this once......LOL When WoF came up on Amazon for pre order the date was for mid 2022 which I thought odd at the time. I have just checked and while still listed as a pre order the release date has changed to 31 Dec. 2030!

Thanks for the heads up Alan. That is for the Steel book edition which i didn't think Amazon were doing. There is no release date for the dvd or standard blu ray addition it seems.

The general idea is that it has only been removed now because it has been recently recovered. They didn't have the (potentially) recovered episode when they commissioned, or even announced the animation.

Is the animation been completed? If it is or is near to completion, then I have to borrow Worzel's 'cynical head' and wonder if the BBC really would withdraw Web from pre-order at this point, even if ep3 had been recovered. The animation cost money to produce so it's natural Auntie would want a return on that. Having the episode back actually means it's better than double bubble for the Beeb, allowing them to release a third version, a complete Web, sometime down the line. In the meantime, they might even make ep3 available on BritBox and no doubt enjoy a little surge of new customers. We know they're not adverse to such things. How many times has the Five Doctors and Robots of Death been around the block now? Two VHS releases and two DVD releases apiece, and that's just in the UK. If you're counting the 2013 iTunes release the new release marks the 3rd time Web itself has been on sale. Would they go for a 4th, or a 5th if they could? See Shada.

If the animation could not be stopped and if the episode was found nothing stopping good old beeb releasing both on the same release. They could recuperate revenues all on one release. I'm thinking something along the lines of Invasion Of The Dinosaurs 1 (Invasion) or The Faceless Ones. They still need the print to do this of course...so really just more wishfull thinking
