Semi-update: Someone accused Phil of falsely stirring hopes and he posted this reply
Something else to note is that somebody replied to that tweet as well and Phil gave it a like. I feel rather silly for speculating on all the minute details of Phil’s tweets but I am far to eager to see this episode return...

I am so sorry to double-post like this but it also seems Phil has deleted one of his tweets on the Web release and instead posted this
Far less promising...

It is also possible that the film print in PM tweet is another show entirely, May be from another Dr. Who story or it could be another BBC production entirely. But I agree with others and wish PM would drop "The X Files" type mystic tweets and just come out and say what he has found. Obviously he is in possession of what ever is on that film print. Just tell us if its Dr. Who or another missing episode of another series.
Now if he does come out an its not a Dr. Who episode a lot of people will loose interest in it

So...another total wind up to stir up the sad fans then? Why does he do it?

I think I now accept what is the situation as I see it. I believe this print probably still exists but we aren't going to be seeing it any time soon.

It’s important to remember, and I’ve made the point previously, that “fan” comes from “fanatic” and it's not difficult to observe.
There are far too many who are desperate, and I think that’s an appropriate term, for DW MEs to be found/returned. It can sometimes get nasty. Some have a, completely unfounded, belief in “entitlement” - they have an absolute right to see any ME immediately it’s found, and start throwing their toys out of their pram if it doesn’t happen.
There have been close to, if not actually, defamatory things said about PM and completely ludicrous conspiracy theories perpetuated. It’s got to the stage where anything PM says, or does, is “interpreted” - and I suspect that silence would also be “interpreted”!
Fundamentally the problem is that there are some extremely immature people around who are best ignored.

Absolutely there is more to life especially in these difficult times. Sad as it is we haven't got these prints but there is always the future. But personal attacks take it to far

That is why if the people who have these episodes are here on this forum lurking its best not to give them attention. The more that people keep showing an interest in these missing episodes the more embolden to holding on to them they will become.
That's why I say ignore them, we know there out there and they wont be forgotten.
As soon as interest drops off the people holding those episode's might relent and return it to get the attention that goes along with returning a missing episode (hero status for a while)

Yes time to take stock and cherish how far we have come and continue enjoying those episodes returned and recreated. Let's face it who would have thought we would have had Pat's era so well represented on dvd 20 years ago....

Thankyou John for that pompous, ignorant label , judging everyone together, you may personally think the sun shines out of Phils bottom, some of us do not. I , for one, do not understand why, when you are in the position he is in...he does these things, its cruel and shouldnt be happening. So please dont get on your pedestal and judge the fans, maybe judge the perpetrator.

Specifically what has Phil said or done that makes you so critical of him, that’s “ cruel and shouldn't be happening”? The only things that I’m aware of are fairly innocuous … but then I’ve not been following it particularly closely either, and you may be referring to things to which I have not been privy.

Let's face it who would have thought we would have had Pat's era so well represented on dvd 20 years ago.... Yes some will remember when Tomb of the Cybermen was thought lost forever with not one single visual sequence remaining. Watched the serial again recently and whilst I know it has its critics (I didn't feel Web of Fear was as good as its legacy personally) it struck me that much as I have always appreciated the audios there was no way the soundtrack could convey the claustrophobic sets and tension throughout. The cliffhanger as the camera zoomed in on a Cyberman with `You belong to us..........You will be like us!' both terified and fascinated me as a kid. I think it was Jeremy Bentham who summed up the unexpected recovery best when he said it had suddenly gone from being the only unrepresented 1960s Cyberman story to the only complete one.
