Is anyone interested in detailing the clips used in the episodes that haven’t been catalogued so far?
I messaged Simon offering my copies of the episodes. (Not a trade, before anyone pipes up) But haven’t heard back from him

Thanks Simon. Question: does anyone else have a memory of this episode, and can they confirm or deny that it was Mickie Most who got into a disagreement with Mike Read on Pop Quiz (22 May 82) about The Beatles 1st #1 record? (Please Please Me vs. From Me To You) It was a bit of a dust-up at the time, in the social media of the day, ha. Or was it someone else on a different episode of Pop Quiz? Cheers... I've just flicked through this episode. Mike Read asks Mickie Most a question about Elvis Presleys 1st Number 1 in Britain. Mickie incorrectly answers with Jailhouse Rock. Correct answer was All Shook Up. He's then asked what year it was released, he correctly answers 1957. No disagreement, no drama. As Simon has pointed out, it was another contestant on another episode. Could be your mind playing tricks after all these years!

Referenced in the latest Private Eye www.private-eye.co.uk/Is there a reason it's became topical? I believe copies of the documentary appeared online a year or two ago? It featured in The Crown I believe, a Netflix series about the Royals. That’s what’s bought it back to light recently.

Only 2 photos, zero feedback, new seller and no other items for sale.
Hopefully it’s real. I certainly wouldn’t want to part with that much cash without seeing more photos.

I'm certainly not paying for this service. Rather than saying “thank you” to someone who has answered your query within minute of you posting, you decide to answer with this. I’m sure you expect people to pay for your book when it’s published? But you don’t wish to pay for any information that goes in it? Kaleidoscope do a lot of work for free, so £5 for a months access is an absolute bargain for the goldmine of information.

You’re right, I’ve just checked my copy and it’s the 25/1/73 performance. So that shouldn’t cause any issues. As Saville and Gary Glitter appear after each other, that should be an easy edit.
As per the original question, there’s no real reason why this episode can’t be shown with those edits.
My copy is missing Alvin Stardust (sketch and song) and David Cassidy maybe they replaced the Glitter clip on later edits?

The version on YouTube (which is a repeat) has Sweet and Gary Glitter missing.
There were two takes of the 25/12/73 Blockbuster performance according to the Sweet official YouTube page. I’ll have to check my copy to see which version was used originally. As it’s missing from the repeat version, I assume is the one with Nazi armband and hitler moustache.

So they’d just need to edit out Savile then? Wouldn’t have been too hard.
My copy is from the original broadcast so is thankfully intact.

Taken from the fantastic TV Pop Diaries website.
BBC2 The Sounds Of The Seventies 1: The Clothes I Love To Wear T Rex - Hot Love (Top Of The Pops 25 March 1971) Sweet - Blockbuster (Top Of The Pops 25 December 1973) Slade - Mama Weer All Crazee Now (Top Of The Pops 28 December 1972) Gary Glitter - I Love You Love Me Love (Top Of The Pops 15 November 1973) Mott The Hoople - Roll Away The Stone (Top Of The Pops 15 November 1973) Mud - Tiger Feet (Top Of The Pops 27 December 1974) Alvin Stardust - Sketch (Basil Brush Show 1974) Alvin Stardust - Jealous Mind (Top Of The Pops 27 December 1974) Suzi Qutro - Devil Gate Drive (Top Of The Pops 27 December 1974) David Cassidy - Some Kind Of A Summer (Top Of The Pops March 1973) Donny Osmond - Puppy Love (On Tour With The Osmonds 16 January 1974) The Bay City Rollers - News article (Newsround 1975) The Bay City Rollers - Bye Bye Baby (Crackerjack 1975)
The Gary Glitter clips would have to be edited out, but I can’t see any other reason why it wouldn’t be shown.

The excellent TV Pop Diaries lists musical guests for most editions. Not as a complete episode guide though, you’ll have to look through each year from 1975 to 1981.

Wonder why it took 4 years for it to be shown? Then almost another 2 for a repeat?

Do we know what format this tape is?

Didn’t the trail air on ITV during Children’s ITV? So it would exist if someone had recorded the children’s programs off air that day.
It’s a well known piece of TV, someone must have recorded it at the time (possibly accidentally) and realised it was worth keeping

Nice! Glad that we finally get to see a little taster from all the hard work that’s gone into it
