Eh? Thought is was tonight...? I too thought it was Tuesday, possibly because that is when The Radiotimes said it was on! So, I too have missed it. Very annoying. Mind you, the last time the BBC annoyed me this way by switching programmes about, we contacted them and they sent us their preview tape to watch. Worth a go.

I was privileged to see The Shadows perform, as part of their Final Tour, in Ipswich last Friday (May 14th). When they came to 'Man of Mystery', Hank slowly turned full circle (twice), statuesque style, as he played the tune, in clear homage to ... well, you all know that bit.

It was about as funny as a Denys Fisher Junior Circumcision Kit. Ah, the hours of fun I had with that as a child, singing along with the dirty version of My Bonnie Lies Over the Ocean every time we used it. The girls' version is much sought after I hear.

As I recall, the rule for masked wrestlers was that they could only wear the mask until they lost : therefore, after a few years Nagasaki duly lost and from then on wrestled maskless (not a pretty sight). He also appeared to change from 'baddy' to 'pseudo-goody'. However, a few years on he re-appeared in mask, calling himself 'King Kendo', and was a 'baddy' again.

Indeed old Les was the best entertainment , and he must have been about 70 even then. I always liked Alan Dennison too, and Johnny Kwango, who did some acting (albeit silently!) later. Judo Pat Roach is also best known as an actor these days, along with the late Leon Arras (Brian Glover).

The Wrestling Channel has been up and running on Sky for a few weeks now. They are showing some old Kent Walton stuff, but the ones I saw seemed to be the dull midweek bouts rather than the Saturday World of Sport classics.

I still watch it, but don't approve of the relocation from London to Liverpool (though, of course, never mentioned by the cast) nor the complete change of teaching staff. And I particularly dislike the infantile opening credits and use of the 'ruler' noise throughout. Anyone would think it's a children's programme ....

Conversely who is really that bothered about Grange Hill coming out or not? Me. GH is the greatest ever TV show, bar none. It has, of course, been ruined by the mad scouser over the last 2 years, but prior to that it was untouchable as children or adult drama.

No, very few. Most of the few that do exist are in sub-broadcast quality... Surely they were always in sub-broadcast quality, even when they were shown .... awful, awful, programme.

Accepting that Mr Meadows was being sarcastic/ironic : how DID VoD make #3 in the alltime sitcom vote. I like it in its "so bad its good" style, but not #3 ....
My old dad and I agreed that The Likely Lads should have been right up there ... along with "If it Moves, File It" of course (now I'm being sarcastic ..) Does that particular programme, which I still regard as the worst ever sitcom (even allowing for The Office), exist? Be nice to see a SHORT clip sometime to remind me how bad it was.

It was indeed Man of Mystery by The Shadows, but a very different recording from the one with which they reached the Top 10. The hit version was fast and pacy, whereas the version used for Edgar Wallace was very slow and 'mysterious'. Of course ...
