These sellers beggar belief, if anyone with half a brain & has been a Doctor Who fan for any serious amount of time would know all about the much lamented Restoration Team & the people involved with it, they would had they found something out with the internet, try & contact via PM, Steve Roberts, Paul Vanezis, Mark Ayres ,etc via social media with pictures! Maybe Mr 16mm gets his "mates" to ghost bid & buy to make things look good? You're assuming that the seller is interested in returning the material more than they are interested in making a few quid. Remember that as a "fan community" we all know about the RT, but there are people with more casual interest who aren't on forums and who don't know about the Restoration Team.

It'll probably be that long before I can afford a decent hardback copy of the 1974 Auton Invasion..!

I never met Mark, and indeed I hardly had any contact with him, but I shall be raising a glass tonight and my sympathies go out to anyone who knew him better than I did. Rest in peace, guv.

Ian Levine has already done precisely this - he's taken unused footage (and some newly generated material) and edited it into the original episodes to create a full-length two-parter.
By the look of it, the unused footage didn't come from a broadcast quality source.
But we've covered this before - it's never going to be released for contractual reasons as mentioned.

Yes, nothing to disprove the account from the sincere testimonies and thorough research, but the physical evidence of these Macra films being shown on the day has so far not been forthcoming. What physical evidence do you imagine there would be..? Something like this is bound to be based on anecdotal evidence, not physical proof.

Just in case you haven't heard, David Filkin, who was Editor of TW for many years, sadly passed away last weekend. David was head of Science and Features, and you may also have seen his name on many programmes, including QED and Bodymatters.

It could have something to do with the neo nazi terrorist organisations active in the UK at the moment? Remember, they quite recently assassinated poor old Jo Cox MP, Murdered, please, not assassinated.

I'll asked again won't Henson legally be allowed to get copies as there the copyright holders? Kaleidoscope have always offered copies of their finds to the copyright holders, free of charge.

Not least because the tapes look like much later tapes than would have been used in the late 70s (although again, the possibility exists that replacement labels and boxes could have been used later on).

I can't see that this would be anything other than a standard fan video collection from the 1980s, when everyone was swapping and dubbing stories for each other. The random selection of episodes on the tapes would seem to confirm that. It wasn't that difficult to get Ambassadors, Mind and Planet of the Daleks back then as lots of people had copies - of varying quality! Whilst Richard is most likely correct, there is of course the extremely remote possibility that such tapes could contain off-air recordings of Ambassadors of Death and the Mind of Evil from the same run as the recordings of The Silurians and Terror of Autons, and of course the interference-afflicted Ambassadors that we already know about. However, it is far more likely that these are of no value whatsoever!

Is it worth it to check in every station in Africa? Nobody can possibly know that until it's been done.
