Quite true. I don't understand why they said THEY were looking into it.... Wouldn't it be the BBC looking in to it??

These current rumours smell authentic to me,especially after the thread that was locked last week.Kind of got a feeling that people higher up will surpress them until an official announcement is made next year.Whatever it is,it sounds exciting-what is it and where the hell did they find it????Don't be surprised if this thread gets locked as well...

I'm not spreading any rumours just asked a question. If the moderators feel like they need to lock this thread I wont mind because they obviously don't agree with the content included in the thread not because I might unearth something vital. I do see what you mean about the thread being locked last week, but you do have to take into account that the person that said they had found the episodes was 13 and the moderators didn't want a load of unnecessary stinky plops because of it.

Hi guys With all these rumours going around, I was just look on the net to see if I could see anything elso. On this Youtube link - www.youtube.com/watch?v=dY2EFK48V6o , on one of the comments, someone says there is a guy in Preston called Daryle who has "The Invasion" episode 1 but missing a few minutes from the end and is silent. Has this come up before and checked? Dave

This is a very old rumour/hoax. No truth in it as far as we're aware.

The thread about Anneke Wills and the Power of the Daleks Daniel. I believe it was locked to stop endless speculation and theories. Although I thought speculation and hearsay, which invites conversation, discourse and debate, was the idea of a 'missing episodes' forum!

Of course they might know something, so you could very well have the last laugh. Just as long as DWO gets a confirmation before reporting anything when it comes to missing episodes. When they printed a rumor in 2007 that The Web of Fear had been found, that got all the Doctor Who fans excited. They stuck by their story and their three reliable sources for six weeks until The Raiders of the Lost Archive. At one newsgroup, a member of DWO said they would produce whatever evidence they had in case it turned out to be a hoax. Needless to say, many fans were really upset when nothing turned up, and they went to DWO asking questions about what evidence they had concerning that rumor and the sources. DWO never told anybody what the information was or who their three reliable sources were. That was a disaster.

The Anneke Wills/Power thread was closed because the rumour was debunked by Paul. The 24 episodes thread was closed because nothing constructive was being added and the OP was being subjected to verbal abuse. Nothing more.
When this rumour is debunked, I imagine this thread too will be closed.
Nothing sinister or significant there, I'm afraid...

A silent copy of "The Invasion 1" has been rumoured for years.

If somethings been found already, surely the BBC wouldn't wait till Nov 2013 to announce it as they would want to issue it on DVD by then to cash in on the 50th anniv.(As the last 2 recoveries were made a year ago and still have not seen the light of day, i would imagine any announcement would be made this year).

I still think that now would be a bit early for an announcement given that The Underwater Menace release has not been confirmed yet, which to me is really strange indeed, given that 'Air Lock' has been announced and they were both found at the same time! Announcing a new find in January-March would be perfect build up for the anniversary, as the news would go live on the anniversary year with its release to follow. What a double coup for the Beeb! I just feel any find that is recovered between now and December will be announced next year for maximum exposure, or any that were found after June/July. Remember that G4 and UM took 5 months to announce and any found now would be announced in March/April by that reckoning! At the end of the day Paul V can't just announce things on this forum, like some think he can do. Even if not for contractual reasons (as Richard Bignell tried to debunk in a previous thread) the BBC would consider information like missing episode finds etc. to be theirs to divulge at a time that suited them and employees/links to the BBC such as Paul risk cutting ties by leaking information like that. It is not a question of Paul's or others' honesty, it is just a fact that big companies do not like leaks. Of course there might not have been a find but until next year we won't know. ADDENDUM: Interesting to note that jackw28 last logged in at 7.43am yesterday morning. Was the 24 episode find unexpectedly not true?

Not really sure that anything has been found to be honest but even if it had now would not be a good time for the BBC to be making any announcements. The bad press swirling around them right now would swamp any good news and some would accuse them of trying to distract the media from the inquiries and daily revelations. I think the idea over jackw28 was he would be banned if he didn't sent a private message explaining what he was talking about and presumably a bit more info. he might not want to post in public in some convincing detail. So I'm assuming if that private contact is kept up this could run on for weeks. Assuming the messages are convincing enough that is. Just something I should probably know, does anyone know what the minimum age for membership here is ?
