In my sixth installment of 50WHO, I look to the Patrick Troughton era as I focus on The Tomb of the Cybermen. As usual, it's not so much about the story but on it's status as once being missing from the BBC Archives. Missing episodes of Doctor Who is an immense fascination to me on every level. This article looks at how important The Tomb of the Cybermen was in terms of being a missing story. I also look at how someone at the Visions convention in Chicago in November of 1991 told me that the story was definately found. Finally, is there 90 episodes about to be returned to the BBC? I also received a plea by someone who owns the right to an American TV series from the 1960s called My Living Doll. They have episodes missing and want help to track them down. Details are in my article. Please check it out. The "My Living Doll" guys are jerks. They try to bully film collectors into giving them stuff. I had a clip on a promo show for that series (in 16mm) which I put on ebay (a number of years ago) and instead of simply asking if they could borrow it, or get a copy, they sent me threatening emails, and posted nasty things about me on public forums. I wouldn't give them a film if they begged me at this point.

I'd never heard of My Living Doll but it seems episodes got destroyed in an earthquake. I'm unsure how many are missing - 11 out of 26 have been released on DVD.

Interesting Greg that you mention the 90 missing episodes rumour on facebook when describing your wonderful TOTC blog-it's almost as if you've grown weary of the anticipation of the possible outcome. That's exactly how I'm feeling at the moment!Sorry,I don't want this to turn into a rumours thread and I won't mention it here again but it's good that you mentioned it on Facebook,it allowed me to let off some steam as well and share what others are probably experiencing,as well as putting it out there into the mainstream!

Hello, Over the past few years I have been writing a blog devoted strictly to British television (with few variations) and I wanted to tell you about my most recent article. It's about missing episodes. Not a history of the subject or anything that can improve upon Wiped!, it is more of my fascination, research and almost finds from a US perspective. It's more of a personal story and hopefully one that some people might find interesting. from-the-archive.blogspot.com/The blog generally is me randomly picking a series and I write about what I watch each week but this week is all about Doctor Who. Take care, Greg Hi Greg, Just read your latest entry on the blog - I remember my neighbour giving me the DWM at the time (1983?) to reading missing episodes I was hooked from that day forth. Bought the magazine from my local newagent - always wanted to subscribe, but they didn't allow for it in Australia. Do they now? I also remember having a sleep over in the late '80s and watching fifth or sixth generation video tapes of Harntnell and Troughton stories. What a week-end to remember.

I do a podcast called The Others and this one focuses on missing episodes: Missing episodes! This is what the second part of our commentary to The Tomb of the Cybermen is all about. We discuss what it was like being fans in the early 1990s when The Tomb of the Cybermen was found and how we got our copies. Robert talks a little about his time working on the Telesnap Reconstructions plus when he co-edited for Disused Yeti. Finally, we take time to discuss this persistent rumour of 90 episodes being found. What are our thoughts on this and what would we want to watch first? There is a ton of good information and a lot of laughs. With special guest appearances by copious amounts of wine and whiskey sours, these are fun to do. If you enjoy them, please tell others about us! To listen to the episode: Click here to listenThere is also a Part One to this that covers episodes 1 & 2 of The Tomb of the Cybermen and focuses mainly on the story and the Patrick Troughton era. That can be listened to here.

This week I take a look at something probably everyone has downloaded and that would be The Enemy of the World and The Web of Fear. These two stories were not only announced on October 10th as found but they also became available for downloading from iTunes that day. It is an unprecedented move that I wholeheartedly applaud. I take a look at the episodes plus I explain why I think supporting the downloads from iTunes is such a good idea, how the BBC have finally become one voice/one brand concerning Doctor Who and why Philip Morris needs to be given a knighthood. Even a few days after the announcement, my head is spinning in delight as we celebrate the return of 9 episodes of truly classic Doctor Who! why Philip Morris needs to be given a knighthood. Some here are saying OBE, I'm thinking Order Of St Patrick is nicely appropriate and high time to revive. Whatever, credit where it's due is all. And if PV's hopeful note recently suggests, the gratitude machine could be yet be knocked up a few more octaves, if that's possible! Fingers crossed, on both fronts!

I just posted my review of the two animated Doctor Who episodes of The Moonbase from Planet 55. This review is just of the two episodes. I include a ton of screengrabs and comparisons between the animation and telesnaps. Planet 55 did an awesome job with these episodes. Please take a look and if you like my article, please share it with others. Normally I write for my site From the Archive but I wrote an article for Doctor Who Worldwide about this Marco Polo hoax this week. In the article, I touch on why I think simple logistical thinking may help to get us to understand why everything is taking so long.
