Robin this thread was from last year! The event hasn't happened yet and you never know how exciting it could be.

That might explain a thing or two. ;D My own version of time travel. Better start checking out the dates of posts from now on....... Although I would still be intrigued to see another episode of the space pirates.

I loved the documentary Cheques, Lies and Videotape. I could definitely identify with it as I was swapping tapes with other fans since the late 1980s. The only difference is that I am in the US which the documentary didn't touch on. I wrote this as an unofficial different US perspective to Cheques, Lies and Videotapes. I wrote about my experiences swapping tapes in the 1980s getting materials many generations down from the original and all too often receiving camera copies. I provide video examples of what some of these episodes looked like in the 1980s and how we put up with such rotten quality. I am sure there are a lot of people who experienced it back in the 1980s with me! I have finally finished my second (and final) article on Video Tape Trading. The first part of it was getting into the whole idea of finding the rare episodes of Doctor Who when I was younger and getting introduced to the whole new world of tape trading. This article is a departure from that in the sense I go into how I refined my focus of trading and expanded it to beyond Doctor Who but to all of British television. This is the story of how something that was a fun hobby became an obsession. To go to my blog, please click this link: www.from-the-archive.co.uk/2012/12/the-tape-traders-more-things-change.html

Reading between the lines, is it safe to suggest some material mentioned here is not available anywhere else, i.e. missing from the archives?

Wait who made that rumor about the Space Pirates Part 4?

Is it because dissidents who actually liked "The Space Pirates" WANT to see Episode 4? I know I do. It's got the business with the tuning forks, the wobbly rock wall, and you actually get to see Dudley Foster as that lowdown snake Caven. Unforgettable, and I haven't even heard the audio!
Should we create a "Why I liked the Space Pirates" thread, rather than clutter things up here?

Here is my review of the DVD release of Inferno - Special Edition. The restoration looks great and I have included comparison shots between the old restoration and new plus I include a split screen that really punctuates the differenced between the two restorations. Great stuff. The updated version is amazing compared to what they could achieve even a few years ago.

I am very pleased to be able to post a review for the animated version of Episode 4 of The Tenth Planet. This is from the Regeneration set released in the UK on June 24th. The focus of this review is solely on the animation created by Planet 55 of Episode 4. I was not a huge fan of their efforts on The Reign of Terror but does my opinion soften with this effort? Absolutely! It's quite good. Please check out my article. This episode is really a treat! I have included a ton of pics of the animation plus comparison pics between telesnaps and animation to see how closely scenes match up. Please feel free to let other people know about this article. Great article (as always). The animation does look good. I love how you phrased it as 'released in the UK', past tense (as I type this today). One question - where did you get the telesnaps from?

In my sixth installment of 50WHO, I look to the Patrick Troughton era as I focus on The Tomb of the Cybermen. As usual, it's not so much about the story but on it's status as once being missing from the BBC Archives. Missing episodes of Doctor Who is an immense fascination to me on every level. This article looks at how important The Tomb of the Cybermen was in terms of being a missing story. I also look at how someone at the Visions convention in Chicago in November of 1991 told me that the story was definately found. Finally, is there 90 episodes about to be returned to the BBC? I also received a plea by someone who owns the right to an American TV series from the 1960s called My Living Doll. They have episodes missing and want help to track them down. Details are in my article. Please check it out. I would say that on a scale of 1 to 10 the likelihood of 90 episodes being about to be returned to the BBC is somewhat less than 0.
