Uh... Sorry, have I missed something...?
I don't get what this refers to. 'Another mess'?

If the BBC wanted to do all it could to kill the rumours they would have categorically denied them, surely? I'm not saying they're hiding something, but the open-ended nature does raise my eyebrow.
I think it was Paul or someone in a similar position that dropped a hint about UM 2 and G4 3 that went completely unnoticed. I went along the lines of 'You never know what's out there, some old TV engineer might have two episodes knocking about his shed for all you know'. The finds were announced and the old thread comments were picked up on. Not saying there is any repeat of this happening now, but maybe in hindsight that wasn't the best thing to do as it only gives fans more reason to read into what people say - or indeed don't say.
Having said that I suppose it could be argued that even with a categoric denial, as with Paul, that 'they're bound to say that'. It's possible.
Well... That's all I have to say on that. When it comes down to it, it's just a case of wait and see - as it always has been, rumour or not.

I thought the only reason why the Baker material still existed was simply because they were still being sold/offered in 1978.

People couldn't start trivial threads back then.

Which they won't. It's not there for large organisations. It's for small startups and individuals who can't get funding through traditional routes. Whilst I don't suppose there's anything stopping them as such, I don't think we need to list the reasons why an organisation like the BBC wouldn't even consider the idea.

Of course, the rights come into it obviously ...and that's why it won't happen!

Seems it's only Black and White but its already got bids of over £100 with 5 days to go.I wonder how much a missing one would go for? Blimey, if it were colour - that'd raise a few eyebrows!

Having previous experience of the type of answers Paul can make to missing episodes queries, I would read the specifics of Paul's answers carefully. Well he's done it before on this very site, regarding what turned out to be UM 2 and G4 3. Whether he should have or not... that's another matter. However, I suppose whatever you say, it isn't going to stop those who are hell bent on reading everything into everything!

I thought it was only Episode 1 that was going to be in colour and the rest BW? What's the point of that?! Haha.

Exactly. There is absolutely no reason to behave differently to normal. ...But then again, when has it ever been normal? Ha! But seriously, I agree with Rob.

As it stands, colour recovery is the only way of improving Silurians. They could also fix any geometry distortions at the same time. The current release pre-dates the availability of this technique. And cleaner luminance? Using a notch filter loses detail.

Unfortunately, they won't be able to use this method on Silurians as they don't have an RSC master to source the colour. The only colour available is from an off-air recording. The technique could only be used on Curse of Peladon, Sea Devils, Colony in Space, Mutants and Time Monster (assuming the FR prints of this story do exist as Richard Bignell suggests.) I don't think that's his point. The Silurians could still be improved and also make use of the warping technology in the process.
