I can see why secrecy may be necessary, and that it's natural for fans who may not know the finer details of what is actually involved to get hyped up. See one of my old posts on here about ignorance. Sadly some people who do know more about the subject are being somewhat reckless with regards to what they say.
Going back to the original question:
I'd be interested to understand the steps and experiences between the initial queries and actually holding the physical item for the first time. Are there any detailed accounts like this with any other similar recoveries, DW or not?

It is free part of their on demand service. No purchase, just on demand like the hundreds of other doctor who stories What I mean is the BBC WW would have charged Virgin to place it there for free. It's 'free' to Virgin customers, but it wasn't to Virgin. The BBC gets it's money.

Its should be noted that the DVD release is slightly sharper than the iTunes release.

I just had the silly thought that a quote saying "We don't have any missing episodes" is always true because if they have them they (by definition) aren't missing any more. Or that the archive is complete and that there are no missing episodes left to be found *braces for rocks being hurled* It could be the case. Honestly could! It's unlikely, but the point is that you're not saying it's definitely true. This is something certain people still doesn't seem to get!

What do you mean by 'any more'? There weren't any clues or hints in anything before.

I'm surprised they put it there for free. .. especially since the dvd hasn't been released yet Was there an error or part of a dr who package? It's not free... Virgin would have been charged accordingly.

I've just seen this. tried the link and it said "Page Not Found". Maybe Rabjohn and/or Bignell were/was real? What exactly did they say? Or maybe they realised it was fake?

No. Enemy was not that high on my wanted list, but now having seen both that and Web, I prefer it to Web.
As already stated, UWM may never be a gem, but with Episode 2 now it certainly looks to be a more enjoyable jaunt than anyone had previously suggested.
If you haven't seen it, then I don't think it's possible to truly judge.

Also look at it like this. If there were no more missing episodes to come from Morris why would the BBC be so concerened in trying to identify and clamp down on any leaks now. What evidence is there to show the BBC is clamping down on leaks at the moment? (Genuine question) Even so, we know the rumours caused problems because some people were going too far. Surely that's enough for any reasonable person to refrain from making definitive statements.

I'd recommend Airfix or maybe a nice jigsaw from now on.

I assume the investment in colour transmission would have also pretty much guaranteed the facility to use tapes. All colour sales I know of were on tape. The BBC wasn't big on colour telerecordings in any case. The only 'evidence' I can only think of one Fawlty Towers episode off the top of my head, and even then I don't know if that was for sales purposes.

Yes, but sometimes only free for those who hold "acceptable" opinions ... Free anytime ! Its called democracy ! It's not about having opinions. It's not a problem when opinions are shared as opinions. But all to often opinions (and very optimistic ones at that) are being shared as fact. It's potentially damaging. I can't see how hard it is to get that.

Dont be fooled by the doubters my friends. We all want the same........ Remember all those dark years ! We are allowed a little hope There are no 'doubters'. The people you consider 'doubters' are simply being realistic. They're not trying to fool anyone, but rather trying to ground people for very valid reasons. I don't know why you keep talking about them. They simply don't exist. I understand you believe more are back, and I sympathise with that. But I really don't think preaching that episodes are definitely back and people should ignore those who are telling people to not get hyped up is constructive in any sense. All that can come from it are two things: People who read it, believe it and set themselves up for possible disappointment. The second is that this forum is being read by many people and is being talked about elsewhere on the web. We've been told already that the rampant rumours caused problems with negotiations, so I can see these comments stoking the fire. I don't wish to be Mr Grumpy. I am hopeful, but knocking realism and preaching what is basically jumping the gun isn't going to make any episodes come back faster.
