So have the (first batch at least) films been sent to Paul Vanezis as Ian suggested they might?
Would be great to hear an analysis of their possible origin, on top of confirmation that they exist aside from Ian's contact in Taiwan.

Just seen Ian Levine tweet. "Found five more Dr Who eps in Taiwan including Enemy Of The World 6. If only I found them sooner. Two Ambassadors eps, Marinus 6, Krotons 3." I asked him if the Ambassador episodes were colour but I imagine they're probably not. Unlike the last five these are really spread out out, season 1, 5, 6 and 7! Hopefully he'll unearth some more including something currently missing. Wow, so after missing for over 45 years 2 copies of a missing episode have been uncovered in a course of a few months! And this Taiwan copy of The Enemy of the World episode 6 might be of higher quality than the Nigerian print! Plus it's great to know that prints from Season One are still out there! I respect this man a lot more than I used to and I think we all owe him a debt of gratitude! Just tweeted him to say Thank you.

Ah episode recoveries. Good and yet also sort of well...bugger! Why couldn't they be missing episodes? Still got to laugh really. Another Enemy of the World episode 6? That's so last year.

Prints of Season 1 and 2 are very much common. It's more surprising that a print from Season 5 is out there. As for quality: If it is another Positive (likely is) there might be a few scenes or sections here or there that may prove of better quality. I hope they get all 10 films as studying them up front will prove invaluable. Marinus 6! So close to the incomplete 4 and 2. (I know that the edits are likely to exist on all TR copies, but you never know.) The recovery of either episode would confirm the theory even further. Since Enemy of the World 6 was found, this pretty much proves that these are not reproductions from the 1980s. This sounds very promising indeed. True. Very much so. This makes Taiwan an even more interesting untapped prospect. And another Season 6 episode. Let's hope there is at least an episode of Space Pirates at the end of all this! Now with even more seasons, it suggests a variety of episodes could be there. I'm hoping for ANYTHING. Like ... Tenth Planet 4 or Web of Fear 3 would be nice. ----- This is indeed amazing. If anything, the recovery of Enemy 6 and two Ambassador episodes is phenomenal. I am unsure if the two Ambassador episode would or would not be of better quality. I'm assuming there may be a chance. Episode 1 was already on PAL so we don't need another copy of that. However 2, 3, 4, 6, 7 were all chromadot recoveries. There may be scenes of better quality than what was provided. I'm unsure if it would be beneficial. Could restorers take the color layer from Ambassadors and put it on top of the better print? Also Episode 5 is from a betamax. Would a B&W be better quality? As far as I know we have only one copy of Marinus 6, found in Villiers House 1978 by Ian Levine. I'm unsure if it is negative and positive, but perhaps a few scenes here or there that may have better quality than what we had. Futhermore, this is from the era of "suppressed film", and it would tell us a LOT if we could know if it is Stored or Suppressed. As for Krotons 3 ... I think we have something like ... 3 prints of that? Absolutely stunning news. And remember Ian: Third time's a Charm

Another Enemy of the World 6?!?!?!
Fantastic, fingers crossed that The Web of Fear was sent to Taiwan as well!
I'm sure that an episode of The Space Pirates will turn up at the end of all this!

We need more finds from Season 4. Was that wildly distrubuted? Still knowing our luck we might end up with Underwater Menace 2 or Moonbase 4. Or if we are blessed then the Macra Terror 4 or Feceless Ones 2 or if it is destiny then Power of the Deleks 1, Underwater Menace 1 and 4 Moonbase 1 and 3 Highlanders 1 2 3 4 Tenth Planet 4 and Evil of the Daleks 7.
Might be wishfull thinking be we can dream right?

However 2, 3, 4, 6, 7 were all chromadot recoveries. Weren't all the Pertwee colorizations but one sourced from the negatives? Or at least with the negatives available to the RT? My impression was the chromadot recovery of Dinosaurs:1 was subpar because it was sourced from a print (and not a great quality one at that).

My impression was the chromadot recovery of Dinosaurs:1 was subpar because it was sourced from a print (and not a great quality one at that). Invasion of the Dinosaurs didn't have any blue chroma dots so they had to try and "guess" how much to add. As of the moment you have two options, watch it in black and white or in green and red. Take your pick.
Back on topic, we should note the number of episodes recovered is five rather than three, which means it is almost certainly a different source. It seems likely what was believed about the episodes being scattered amongst numerous collectors is true and that the missing three are still out there (as well as numerous other collections as well).

Is some being kept back ? It just goes to show you that what should of and what actually happened could be miles apart !!!
They weren't being kept back, they have just been found. They believe that Taiwan got a hold of copies at some point, they may even have been broadcast but at the end of it the episodes were all sold off to film collectors rather than being destroyed. Now it is just a case of trying to track them all down and hoping for the best they still have them (and of course, that the episodes are currently missing or of a better quality to what is currently held).
There's at least three more out there. Let's hope for the best.

Strange that no missing ones as of yet. Enemy 6 the closest !

There's a a huge range for the episodes to come from. Originally it was thought it could just be from Series 6, but now we are looking at anything from 1963 to 1970 potentially (which drives the number up from 44 episodes to 258 potentially, if we exclude Mission, Master Plan and Inferno as these were never sold to the worldwide market). The odds of finding something have taken a knock, but this recovery has exposed more information on what has been in the area and proves these aren't fakes (as there's a new copy of Enemy 6 now). There's at least three more out there, hopefully one of them will be a missing episode or at the very least an existing episode from one of the 16 orphaned stories to prove the stories were there.
