44 x 25 minute episodes (commercial half hour) = 1100 minutes. I suspect that if 44 is wrong, then the extrapolated running time is wrong too.

According to this page, far fewer than 44 were made (24 in fact) of which, as mentioned earlier, only about half survive. The broadcast dates on that page are suspect. UTV was broadcasting new episodes of Biggles into October 1960, which would have had to have come from the network as it had no VT facilities at that point.

The BFI says 35x30 mins. ftvdb.bfi.org.uk/sift/series/26921 35x30=1050 or "1100 approx." And that in London, they ran from 1st April to 9th Sept. i.e. more than once a week.I wonder if someone's been counting weeks? Is it possible that they were twice a week in the Summer holidays? Still not 44 episodes,of course... I'm convinced that-despite my quip-Network have got it right with this six-disc set,and that the series is complete.Wonderful news.

I think your right because each storyline was at least three episodes with some as many as six, and with the 11 or so storyline titles listed as surviving it adds up to alot more than just 24 episodes. I'm lucky enough to own nine original scripts from this series and nearly 100 John Cura Tele-Snaps from the 3 part Storyline Biggles Flies East

Hello, wondering if anyone has any info or can suggest a source about what exists of Granada's Biggles TV series from the late 50's/early 60's. My father was a regular in this series & I'd love to know what's out there. Any help greatly appreciated! Sure,Tim.Easiest thing in the world. The series exists complete and is coming out on DVD soon. (There's service for you.Only took eight years after the initial question!).

Tim,I thought that looked mighty like a telesnap on one of the Biggles sites.
I suppose there's only the one complete set of film prints, and that the episodes mentioned up-thread were loaned for the DVD transfer?
It would've been nice if Network could have included a booklet with the set.Or is that just being greedy?

I see on the Biggles site something I hadn't spotted before, that Amazon have this as both a 6 and a 2 disc set-on the same listing!

I see on the Biggles site something I hadn't spotted before, that Amazon have this as both a 6 and a 2 disc set-on the same listing! Yes it's a bit confusing as it has the artwork that says 6 discs set, but description says 2 discs lasting 275 minutes with a cost of £14.99. And then we have Network that says 6 disc set at 1,100 minutes with a cost of £39.82

I contacted Network and they have confirmed it is a 6 disc set with all 44 episodes, they also said they have contacted Amazon to correct their listing. Brilliant news What!!! ;D

Amazon now have this listed as a 31st April 2014 release. Shame. Network still have it as 2013 I think? I have a suspicion that maybe Amazon want to "squeeze out" people like me who preordered at the £14 price?
