Anything - not just Who - turned up when TVC was vacated? I'm hoping the Dead of Night anthology DVD due out in October has a couple of surprises on. Just the three episodes, according to the BBFC website.Click on 'components list'.

If any films/tapes of missing British TV do exist overseas, their location, identification and recovery, especially from areas of civil and political instability, can be seriously hindered by inappropriate scrutiny and publicity from uninvolved third parties.
Can we just trust the guy on this?
Please?
Please?!

It was good to listen to the Michael Troughton commentary on The Ice Warriors. At the end of the interview Toby H says that part two of it will be on an upcoming Troughton release which is nice to hear. Probably Moonbase or Underwater Menace.

Can we just trust the guy on this? Please? Please?! I have no problem with that. Let the episode hunters do their jobs without all the publicity. I don't know if this is a hoax or not, but if something has been found, these leaks show an inability by some people to keep confidential information a secret. If there is something out there, give the guys a chance to recover the material and get all of it back to the BBC before saying anything. The last thing we need is publicity to blow any chance of a recovery out of the water.

I don't think we need to worry about critical 'negotiations' between episode hunters and collectors and the possibility of exchange being scuppered by unwanted publicity in the outside world by over-enthusiastic fans.Judging by the way the rumours have gone and the length of their existence, the deal was done and dusted long ago!The only things determining the outcome and the BBC's announcement is probably physical recovery of the image and clean-up of the prints. However, this is just my summation and could be way off the mark, but hopefully not!

The problem with the scenarios is that the "people in charge" don't have to do anything in the first place. No one is obligated to do anything, even check a box. In fact, the reality is this: By doing nothing, they do nothing that can get them fired. If there are missing episodes that have been recovered, we will find out either when Terror of the Zygons is released or sometime shortly around Nov. 23rd. Now, I have to go pull all the fillings out of my teeth. That's how the government tracks you, y'know. I read about it on a website that listed exactly which episodes the Illuminati have in their members-only DVD lending library. the omnirumour is fascinating isn't it? - especially in the way a large organisation deals with such as this. the rumour itself (at this point) boils down to only 3 general scenarios: 1. Notwithstanding any unverified leads no missing episodes have been discovered. Categorically 106 episodes remain missing. 2. Episodes have been returned and are completely in the BBC's possession. 3. The BBC is aware of the existence of missing episodes but all or some of those missing are not in their possession. Now if the BBC (or the people who run this forum) wanted to scotch the rumour completely then all they would have to do is tick the box of number 1 with a categoric statement i.e. one that DOESN'T use terms to the effect 'As far as I/we are aware...' Scenario 2 puts everyone connected with missing episodes in a very difficult position if it is being kept secret for a big announcement as it can only force them to be evasive at best and liars at worst. But at the same time I can understand it because it will be big news - bound to hit the press and TV - and saving it till the big 50 seems logical to me. For scenario 3 I can completly understand evasiveness as it may involve delicate negotiation and logistics and I'd be very reticent about giving out any information when the deal hasn't been sealed. But for goodness sake if it's scenario 1 just say it as we all have other lives to lead e.g. do the shopping, take the kids to school, etc etc etc..........

How about another scenario which we haven't considered-what if the BBC are sitting on a recovered Dr.Who episode that can't be recovered ie isn't playable due to it's level of deteriation?Didn't PV allude to such a situation on this forum a few months ago when he said he was working on such an example but couldn't divulge any more information? This was in relation to a thread about film turning to vinegar. What other TV show could be so important that he couldn't tell us about, unless it was Dr.Who?We talk about egg on our faces if the current rumour turns out to be rubbish, but what if it's the BBC who end up with egg on their faces when it turns out they've found an episode of Dr. Who which physically can't be transmitted or transferred to DVD in it's complete state? After all the poor fans who've had their sources telling this or that,if the final product cannot cut the mustard, what then? That film would have to remain in storage until such time that the technology becomes available to recover it,and that may take years! the omnirumour is fascinating isn't it? - especially in the way a large organisation deals with such as this. the rumour itself (at this point) boils down to only 3 general scenarios: 1. The original quote from Charles is actually a quote from a larger quote from TIEA. It is not necessarily to do with Dr Who or the rumoured returns. It is about not endangering the lives of their employees as they work in Africa. Idiots have been harassing both them and others.

If there are missing episodes that have been recovered, we will find out either when Terror of the Zygons is released or sometime shortly around Nov. 23rd. That seems a rather odd theory. Why would we find out when Terror of the Zygons release tell us anything? By then various copies would have been floating around with various people for weeks. Surely we'd hear before then. But really ... why would anyone simply let something slip out like that randomly? Besides, the next release after Terror of the Zygons is Complete Series 7 ... seems simple to put a Coming Soon for that one on. And shortly before November 23rd? Why? That seems rather unlikely ... it would get lost in the media attention on the 50th anniversary. If there's announcement pending, I'd think it would be in the next 6 weeks. If not, then it could be months or years away, when they've finished searching in Africa. The Africa search has been ongoing for about 8 years now ...

As I have put it before - IMO - never say never - we are going to have and wait to see what comes up. I personally don't think Terror of the Zygons DVD is going to shed any light on the issue. We've seen extremes on both ends on this and we will find the truth sooner or later whenever the time is right. I personally think that The Dalek Masterplan is a non starter at this point, unless someone shows up with it tomorrow morning.

I'm baffled as to the idea that no one has been harassed. Check out the SLBC twitter feed, it is virtually a Dr Who club. I know of people who have contacted African reporters, embassies, academics, called stations such as ZNBC.
Many fans all contacting the same people again and again
