Anyone know why the missing episodes thread on GB had suddenly been locked? Probably the usual - need to trim a few posts because of too many people breaking forum rules. Speaking of which... Could you change your user name to reflect your real name please... Many thanks!

The smoking gun as BC called it?Absolutely fascinating but begs the question-if the BBC are going to show a recovered programme with no fanfare or pre-publicity other than casual TV listings, how long ago did they aquire the tapes to be able to clean them up to broadcast standard ( that's if the quality wasn't already A1 to begin with ) and if so,does that also apply to missing episodes of Dr.Who? Either an announcement is imminent, and mydigiguide have jumped the gun, or nothing has been found and it's an error. In other words, has the gun been fired, or has it just popped out for a quick ciggie? No smoking gun in regards to DADS ARMY missing episode I looked forward on my digi box to next Saturday 14 sep and Episode advertised is (sergeant Wilson's little secret). So not the missing episode loneliness of the long distance walker.

Was series 3 shown first on bbc1 or bbc2 and was it in 1969 or 1970? Just wondering if it was made around time of Jon Pertwee's series seven of Dr Who

Given that Sierra Leone is almost certainly the last resting place of many lost episodes, let's hope there is some grain of truth that it was only the audio library that was destroyed. I don't suppose anyone official (or semi official) is looking into this or is able to discount this particular rumour. It sounds just about credible! I guess it couldn't be verified without feet on the ground. A family member was only there a few months ago..

I can only speculate on this as I don't have 'insider information', but I would imagine that if there was a strong suspicion or compelling evidence that missing BBC and Doctor Who material was residing in a sierra leone archive, someone would have already been out there to investigate. I expect a suitable archivist would have been approached to do the job (if there was a job to do). It is not beyond the realm of possibility, but we will just have to wait and see

Quick request for board management:
At this point, there seems to be a couple of milestone events that have been projected to be coming up in the near future. For instance, the "big, big announcement" will happen with the Terror of the Zygons DVD release (scheduled for Sept. 30, right?) Or it's coming on Nov. 23, to coincide with the 50th anniversary, etc.
Any chance of getting a run-down? So we can all mark our calendars?

I have just had a peek at the website for Philip Morris's TIEA. It seems their 'latest news' section is blank and 'being updated'. Anyone know if that's been like that for long? Interesting nevertheless! TIEA completely updated their website a few weeks before the Bleeding Cool thing blew up. Perhaps they were anticipating an increase in web traffic...

All, I'm locking this thread until certain people stop questioning moderation, which is a banning offence, and also stop posting material from unverified sources. That is also banned in this thread as you all know. Please exercise your fantasies elsewhere.

OK. The thread is now open for business. If you don't have verifiable sources, don't post here. If you question moderation, you will get an instant ban. Play by the forum rules.
