i love reading these clippings of pop shows from tv mags etc ,so it looks as though the hues corporation did make it to the granada tv studios ,as the tv times article says that they were to perform a few songs on the show ,thinking back im sure they also appeared live on totp around about this time,i wonder why the tv artices sometimes missed out listing the 4 or 5 acts that were on the show each week ,there should have been another 2 or 3 singers or groups that appeared alongside slade and bilbo baggins on that edition,great work anyway william ,do you have the tv times for the edition of 45 from the 9th jan 75 ,we know that supertramp appeared on that show ,but i dont know what other acts appeared alongside ,also is it possible to check feb 75 for the listings ,and end of oct ,and begining of nov of 74 please ,many many thanks mate for researching the info for me.

Hi Jerry, Here's what the TV Times had to say about Supertramp on '45' on the 9th Jan 1975. Unfortunately they never mentioned who else was on the show that week.

Not much luck looking for info on '45' for the end of Oct, beginning of Nov '74 through my TV Times.

I don't have any (end of October '74) editions.

I only have 2 editions from October '74 the (5th - 11th) and (12th - 18th) BUT both are LONDON area editions...and would you believe the London area did'nt show '45' at that time. They showed The Flintstones instead in the 5:20pm slot What makes it irritating is that the TV Times indicated that the Anglia and Midland areas (both) showed '45' while Londoners were watching Fred and Barney et al.

so maybe at the moment the info on IMDB seems the

It ties up that this is from Lift Off (date wise) and it is Granada, rather than another regional broadcaster....there weren't many other ITV shows that would have run an animation featuring Wings at the time so................""Wednesday

These are great finds Ray & Gary.
There was an animated film for the song "Mamunia" by Paul McCartney and Wings released on the CD/DVD version of 'Band On The Run' back in 2010 which sounds very similar to the one you mention. Might be worth checking if it is indeed different to the one you've found.

hi ray ,thank you so much for posting this info it is very useful indeed ,im not so sure on some of the dates though ,45 wasnt broadcast on xmas eve 74 ,although there was a special xmas day edition ,have you any more info on other promos that were shown on the show.

in reply to William Macgregor stating 45 was shown on ATV & Anglia when london were screening the flintstones,fred & barney was shown on thames who were transmitting London during the week,but 45 was broadcast in London on LWT on Saturday lunchtimes before world of sport during 1974 & moved an hour earlier at 11am throughout 1975. they showed every edition except for the Christmas special which was shown on thames on Christmas day 1974. it was the only edition they screened.

just to say a very big thank you to all that have contributed to this topic since i started it ,and a very big thank you of course to william ,who has worked hard researching info on the pop show 45 ,im not sure that any more info will be dug up ,or anyone else can contribute to the topic ,but im hoping in the future that we can squeeze just a bit more info on this wonderful,nearly forgotten pop show of the 70s ,can i just ask if there any editions out there in private hands apart from the one that features the sweet etc ,if so ,we may be able to get an accurate listing of songs ,dancers performance etc from at least another show.many thanks once again to all.

Fairly certain this is an animation for Eric Clapton's cover of "Willie and the Hand Jive". The animation was a stop/start thing as far as I can remember, particularly for the line "doing the hand jive on TV" when the character floats onto the top of a TV. (geddit?)
