Interesting info on the TOTP clip.
The “Dee Time” appearance was mentioned on the 2009 “Peter Green - Man of the World” documentary. CBS were threatening to pull the single unless the band could secure a major television spot to promote it. Fleetwood Mac's manager then remembered that the producer of “Dee Time” had been a fan of “Need Your Love So Bad” and he sent him a copy of “Albatross”, Dee’s producer then phoned him back to ask if the band was free that coming Saturday. Immediately after the Dee Time appearance there were massive orders for the single.
The documentary had to use the familiar colour 1970 Julie Felix Show appearance to illustrate what they were talking about. The Felix clip is sometimes erroneously dated as 1968, but it was actually broadcast four days after Peter Green had played his last gig with the band and he looks very different on the Felix clip to how he would have done at the time “Albatross“ came out (he was clean shaven at the end of 1968 whilst Danny Kirwan had a Brian Jones style mop-top, not the long blonde hair you see in the colour clip).

Hi Syd,
Thanks for the story behind 'Albatross' almost being pulled.
I'm sorry I've not been able to corroborate the Dee Time performance (YET), but I will not give up!
I'm constantly increasing my music paper archive, so you never know, although there's no info in the NME of the period, it might be in another music paper? (Disc and Music Echo, Melody Maker, Record Mirror) etc.
If I do eventually find corroboration, I will give you an update.
cheers William

Hello William
this is great stuff! I couldn't help notice in your scan of the Pan's People articles, you can just see to the right a partial article on the Spectrum explaining how the band got hired to do the Captain Scarlet theme song for Gerry Anderson. Any chance of putting the full version up as I hadn't seen this before.
thanks
Richard

Lift-Off UPDATE number 7Record Mirror June 24th 1972 This is from the readers page Having got home early from work one day I tuned in to the TV and the 'Lift Off'programme. Along comes the record 'American pie' by Don McLean and while this excellent record is telling the World about a tragic death the film on 'Lift Off'showed some feller running off with a great big pie!! He was then chased while this pie seemed to get bigger. The film had nothing to do with the record and altogether it was in rather bad taste. This sort of thing happens too often and I think it gives a bad impression to the kids of what the music scene is like.PETER FREESTONE, 7 Bartlow Road, Castle Camps, Cambridge, CB1 6SY For more Lift-Off information please see previous pages 1,3,4,5,6

Subsequently, seems to have had a long career in movie/TV sound departments Discotheque UPDATE number 7"Discotheque" did end its run on 23 April 1969: but without Dianne Greaves, who got her wish: she did her last show on 12 March, and was replaced by another 'female', Ayshea Brough. So successful was Ayshea at being a "girl DJ" that the programme was networked throughout all of ITV, and re-titled "Lift Off with Ayshea". From the late 1980s, Dianne became a 'foley artist' - someone that recreates sound effects for movies. She's worked on films like Chicken Run, Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason and the cinema release of The Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
