Yes, its all a bit confusing, especially the date! Given that they were the only thing being offered as quality examples (i.e. no moving footage), I took the blurb to mean that those images were taken directly from Terry Jones' film inserts (in colour).
No idea what's happening with the BBFC listing though - possibly different elements are listed separately? I suppose we shall see when it comes out.

I should have said how wonderful Network are,of course. One glitch doesn't change that. It does look as though the film inserts are in colour, and I can see how preparing extras is a process which might make the best-laid plans go a-whatsit. The BBFC can certificate different elements e.g. 'making-of' documentaries days apart from the main features. In this case, everything would need to have been completed by the third week of March for the April 15th deadline,so there could have been a bit more warning. It's that it's so anticipated that makes further delay frustrating,of course!
Compare 'The Lovers'movie, to be released 25/5/13,certificated 16/4/13

Yes. Network = top company! I think it's fair to say that if they hadn't stepped in and taken on that niche market to such a degree, nobody else would! ITV archive material on DVD release would otherwise be at about the same level that the BBC's currently is (i.e. poor).

ITV archive material on DVD release would otherwise be at about the same level that the BBC's currently is (i.e. poor). The way the BBC has ignored it's archive in the DVD age is disgraceful and shameful. Annoying because in me and I'm sure many others here, they'd have guaranteed sales. I'm not quite sure how Network manage it because I'm certain a lot of those obscure ITV shows they've released can't be selling more than a thousand copies, so they can't be seeing much profit, but that hasn't stopped them so we'll always be grateful to them for plundering the archives, enabling us to see all this material. A pity the BBC and 2Entertain have totally different ideas, clearly sticking with safe and profitable stuff. What is annoying with the BBC is they demand too much for other companies to invest in licensing material... the odd ones that have rarely ever put out a second volume because I guess the BBC demand way too much in licensing fees. Hence too much of the BBC archive just sits there on shelves where none of us can enjoy it.

The BFI possibly only displays the transmitted episodes.
It would greatly surprise me if the filmed inserts would now suddenly turn out to've been in colour. No, I think that's nonsense. It's either a still or colourised or both. Not only is it unlikely, some of the bits were shown before and always in b/w, and finally the colour is too good compared to what film from that time should look like.
It all needs some work and that is probably the cause of the delay. The unaired episodes may need to be transferred again, and the 1st 'real' episode is in bad shape, with low quality audio and missing opening sequence (although fan edits have already seen to that in the past).

Now the 'In the Air' section at Network has this as a 20th May release, though elsewhere they're sticking with September!

So it's 1 year and 1 week after the original announced date. Perhaps they stumbled on some technical difficulties with the source material... It could be a rights problem, or the audio needing a lot of attention. One episode's audio was in bad shape and some of the film inserts were missing score or sound effects which add a lot.

If I know Network though, they won't go back on releasing something after they've announced it. It's on the horizon now and I guess there are good reasons for the hold up. I'm sure it'll come eventually (I'm very much looking forward to it myself).

It's happened before.Didn't some of the Callen releases have people hopping up and down?At least this one hasn't got a 2099 release date,as sometimes happens as a default!

Network said on facebook: "Hello there, we are hoping to have some exciting news for you very soon!"
I wonder if they actually found a new missing episode? Or maybe just the master of the one that was already on the internet?

Yes, I had asked them what the reason was for CUHB's (as I call it) long delay. At the same time their answer is so nonspecific as to allow for almost anything.

Thanks R. Amazon are currently showing that CAUHB is "frequently bought (i.e. ordered) with Cilla's Comedy Six and Cilla's World of Comedy. Something to ponder on.I hate to call a website a liar...
