That would be a great show. A few other rarely shown ones that come to mind: Jonathan King - Let It All Hang Out (29 Jan 1970) Mary Hopkin - Temma Harbour (29 Jan 1970) Uriah Heep - The Wizard (16 March 1972)
Jonathan King and Garry Glitter in one show - might generate a bit of publicity if nothing else!

Don't know about that....there's good publicity and and audience who would not tune in! I'm going to email my contact next week and see if he'd warm to the idea of a meeting. Like I said he may not go for the idea, but I have nothing to lose.

Yes maybe the King/Glitter combination might be a bit too much! Good luck with setting up the meeting Ray, I hope it comes off.

Hmm, that Ray Stevens one has to be the 'least likely to be rebrodcast' clip ever status.

As much as I like to lend my support to get the bbc to show all the rare and rarely seen 1960s pop performances that often exist in foreign archives quite frankly I don't mind if it's from TOTP, Blue Peter or any other variety show from the 60's - just show it!

I was snowed in round a friends' house last night and so happened to catch the late TOTP2. A more predictable selection of clips you couldn't expect to find! '60s Special? What exactly was special about it?!?

The second in the TOTP2 series last night was a bit better - especially as we got to see Noel Harrison without the top and bottom of the picture lopped off!
I was just thinking what nice legs Clodagh Rodgers had, when up popped the caption saying she took the "Best Legs" award that year! Like the rest of you, though, I do wish they'd drop that irritating urge to put these captions on-screen during the performance.
Let's not give up hope that the Shadows VT may appear next week.
Colin.

While they aren't enough to keep me coming back every week,I have found the captions fascinating.Sorry about that. Maybe they make more interesting songs that I've known for ages? I've always liked to read sleeve notes, but it's a pity the captions aren't optional.

While I've easily managed to date the Noel Harrison clip as 29 March 1969, I can't find the date of the Clodagh Rodgers performance. On screen it says July 1969, but can anyone help with the precise date?
Many thanks in advance, Colin.

In fact, after following many different leads, it turns out to be the performance from Dee Time. I've just watched on YouTube the bit that was featured in Sounds of the Sixties, where he's carried on in a chair, but this piece continues into Clodagh's performance, which begins just after Simon is out of shot.
Still can't find the actual date, though. And as the BBC caption hasn't even got the correct show, we only have their word for it that it's July 1969!

I think I've just found it - Clodagh appeared on Dee Time on 26 July 1969, so it's almost certainly that show.

Well done Colin, you have put in more effort into that than the BBC has in putting together the totp 2 60s specials. Well done that man!!

Good to know about Clodagh, how can they get simple info like that wrong? That was the only performance I hadn't seen. Would much rather it had been that colour TOTP clip from 1969. I do wish there was a version of this show we could watch without having to hear Mark Radcliffe though. I do like the guy, his 6Music show is a good listen but he aggravates me on TOTP2. I don't mind reading an odd info caption but can do without hearing someone chatting away all over the clips. Really puts me off.

I believe just the clip is all that survives from the show.
