What's your opinion of show's like Radio 2's "Million Sellers' Top 100 recently broadcast on August Bank Holiday Monday, whereby Gary Glitter's song was (I believe) the only record to be quickly mentioned on the chart but not played? Ok, no one in their right mind would ever, ever, ever condone or think of him in a positive light with regards to the crimes he was convicted of, but to kind of try and "erase" him out of pop history, to me, seems really stupid. He was a successful act during that certain era in the seventies - no matter what he went on to do - and therefore, I feel, should be represented in history (especially shows like the Radio 2 recent countdown) for his music and contribution at the time - not for what became of him in recent years.... Am I alone in thinking this? Am I wrong? To me, it's almost along the lines of certain words removed from early OFAH episodes. Ok, "bad" words racially now - and perhaps then - I am again not condoning the words AT ALL, but - nevertheless, part of history and kind of "ok" in their context within the time of the show - if anything history should be shown "as it was" to really make us see just how far we have come - for the better! Sorry - rant over ! I think they also missed out Eden Kane`s- "Well I ask you" for some unknown reason.

you can actually juggle your sky box to "lose the dog" by pushing it above the viewing area in letterbox mode when you record it

Glitter wont earn a penny from any TOTP repeats as he sold off all his rights for 5 million quid just before he went down the fisrt time.

I didn't think the picture quality on the Beat Beat Beat DVDs were as good as the Beat Club DVDs, were the Beat Beat Beat DVDs not released as region free 720 x 480 29 fps apposed to the European standard 720 x 576 25fps? The TOTP episodes broadcast on Eins Festival were very nice quality.

as discussed here sometime ago, the 'Beat Beat Beat' DVD's were not official releases. so the quality was not much better than VHS.

Justice - or, indeed, injustice - can be bought in Vietnam for the price of a round of drinks - and in this case it probably was, and by the coke-snorting hacks working for the UK gutter press who had chased Mr Gadd around the globe in the first instance. Vietnam itself barely pays lip service to any semblance of "child protection" (a bit like our fantastic tabloid press, really) and, furthermore, he's not earning royalties anymore having sold the family silver for a substantial amount back in 1998. That McKenzie, Wade, Bushell etc refuse to point this out to their idiot readership should tell you all need to know. Thus I object to any censoring of old pop music to appease the retaliation of the tabloid editors who kept Glitter's star shining for 20 years longer than it otherwise would have.

Are you sure Paul, you are saying that Lovefilm are renting out unofficial DVDs?Found the original thread and quoting 'Oliver Roemer' Lovefilm have withdrawn some of those DVD's now. I tried to hire one and it is now 'unavailable'. Amazon is still selling them though Here's the thread missingepisodes.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=totp&action=display&thread=4901&page=1

OK we get it - you don't like the tabloid press. However, unless you can prove otherwise, you know no more than anyone else about Gadd's crimes. He was caught with kiddy porn on his computer, he decided to 'retire' to Vietnam - a place well known for child sex and rather less for its retirement homes and he was convicted of crimes against 2 small girls. That said, if he isn't profiting from TOTP reruns then I see no reason for the censorship.

Bringing this thread back on topic again, does anyone have firm info on when the BBC-4 TOTP repeats begin? If so, can they post it here? Thanks.
