Seven Drunken Nights was around May/June 67 so it could be Black Velvet Band. Looking closely at the date the songs were supposedly broadcast, all 8 recordings charted from August to October 1967. I was already initially puzzled as to how there could be an edition on 21/03/67, given there was one broadcast on 16/03 and 23/03/67, a cycle of 7 days in most cases, with exceptions where the day was moved forward by a day, so somehow, the BBC misfiled the songs under the wrong transmission date. Anyway, among the performers who appeared, I've looked up Black Velvet Band by The Dubliners and this charted on 30 August 1967. Thanks for your update. Thanks David .

Some confusion here sorry! The promotional film (in a field) for 'Flowers in the rain' was broadcast on 28/09/67 edition. It doesn't survive from this however, This is where the source for the you tube clip comes from though: >>>>>OCTOBER 1967 :Flowers in the Rain Promotional Film. The Move release an 8mm silent Home Movie film that has been shot and edited to accompany their "Flowers In The Rain" single. This precursor to the 'pop video' retails for one pound seven shillings and sixpence (black & white) or three pounds fifteen shillings (colour).<<<<<<<< hope i've made it a bit clearer

Some confusion here sorry! No problem. All information helps from you and the others for my reference and the other members' and viewers' reference. This precursor to the 'pop video' retails for one pound seven shillings and sixpence (black & white) or three pounds fifteen shillings (colour).<<<<<<<< I now see that the promo film was released in October, but was broadcast slightly earlier in late September 1967 on Top of the Pops. This is one of probably up to several films that were recorded in colour but originally shown in black and white. What sometimes confuses matters when viewing films shown on Top of the Pops is that they're listed as "Promo" films on the database but are actually BBC films or stills ("Disc" appearances) made specially for Top of the Pops, which have no Moving footage of the singers or groups in question, just stills at most, including: Chicago-I'm a Man, The Union Gap featuring Gary Puckett-Young Girl and Steam-Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye. In one case, I even discovered that a listing of a supposed promo film of Stevie Wonder-He's Misstra Know It All is actually a "Musik Laden" Performance! Still very interesting to watch though, whether not all real promo films or it turns out that they're "Disc" appearances or Performances from other programmes, like the above examples. Your information nicely compliments mine on The Move. In those days, one pound seven shillings and sixpence for black and white promo films and three pounds fifteen shillings for colour equivalents must have been a lot of money. I'd imagine today's equivalent would be several thousand pounds!

To clear up the confusion relating to my Monkees/Samantha Juste post, what I was stating was that it is documented that Mickey Dolenz met Samanhta Juste in 1967 (see, for example Wikipedia....the Monkees never appeared on TOTP til early that year. Randy Scouse Git/Alternate Title came out later during 1967.

To be pedantic - it's the Space Oddity promo, from the Love You Till Tuesday film that was being referred to; this was shot in 1969, is available on DVD, but features the original demo of Space Oddity - NOT the single version, and was not shown on TOTP either in 1969 (I believe Bowie appeared live, there is a screenshot in the book 'The Pitt Report' by Ken Pitt, his former manager) or in 1975, where a Mick Rock promo was shown (shot around late 1972, in a recording studio, and available on DVD, 'the Best of Bowie'.

Im pretty sure i saw a promo film for Seven Drunken Nights back in 67 The 27/04/67 and 11/05/67 editions broadcast a promo film for Seven Drunken Nights. I'm not sure if the BBC ever recorded those editions, which if they did, will have sadly been subequently wiped, as the only pre-June 1967 editions I'm aware of that the BBC once recorded are: 29/01/64 and 16/06/66, but very likely the promo film you saw will have been from one of the above two editions. In contrast, they made a studio performance on 13/04/67. Again, I'm uncertain if the BBC ever recorded that edition either. Although nothing has been kept of their performances for Black Velvet Band, the good news is that one of their performances exists - they appeared with The Pogues on 02/04/87 to perform The Irish Rover.
