Just re-reading some old postings here so apologies for late reply! Do you know if these new sets are available from any U.K. source, Peter? I wasn't aware that any complete editions of Beat Club had been released anywhere - make a good Christmas present (New Year now though!) Sadly not. At present they're only available direct from the site I linked to but in February they will be released commercially in Germany. So, I'd guess your best bet will be getting them via import. Wouldn't want to even start guessing at the clearance problems they'd have releasing them in the UK!

The original set of Beat Club DVD releases (around 2002 - now deleted, although I have several of them) were available here via import though, which I saw in a few places in London including HMV. They were compilations of each year (1965, 1966 and so on) but unrestored and not a fantastic choice of acts, it has to be said. I wondered if they might import them in the same way as i'd really love a full set of restored original episodes! Pity I can't understand the German to work out how to order them online!

Yes, I remember those yearly compilations which were less than thrilling. Worse were those "video jukebox" EP's with 3 or 4 songs by a particular act bundled with a compilation of dribs and drabs which unfortunately was the same across more or less all of the discs.
It is a pain that this new site is entirely in Flash... which of course means you can't use Bablefish or anything to translate the text. Makes me wonder... if they intended to release them in the UK, then surely they'd had done an English translation or done the site in English.
Whether HMV will import it or not is anybody's guess. The DVD compilations wouldn't had cost much per unit whereas these big boxsets are gonna cost HMV a fair bit per unit, so if they do get them in, there won't be that many.
I know one day I'll get these sets and I look forward to it. Be great to see them complete instead of hacked up compilations which have appeared on German TV often over the last 15 years or so. It's a terrific archive and fills in many gaps from British TV archives.

Seven Drunken Nights was around May/June 67 so it could be Black Velvet Band.

Going back to record spinners; Samantha Juste was spinning records in '67. She met (and later married) Mickey Dolenz from the Monkees on TOTP (this is touched upon in the song Alternate Title/Randy Scouse Git) 'it's too easy humming songs to a girl in yellow dress'. The Monkees did not debut on TOTP till 1967. If I get any more info I'll let you know.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=q6o5F0s2SjQ - The Move-Flowers in the Rain 07/09/67 (Jimmy Savile), b/w: Performance David This is not a totp performance/insert. It's from a Belgium Tv show called 'Jazz Bilzen' Transmitted in January 1969. I'm not aware of any surviving footage of The Move's 'Flowers in the rain' performances on totp.

I think you're saying that the promo film of Flowers in the Rain wasn't broadcast on Top of the Pops after all. It's just that, whoever uploaded a now removed link of the colour film you sent me a new link of last month, stated that it was a promo film stemming from the 28/09/67 edition and I'd always assumed this was the case, but equally realize that not everything is accurate online.
