Stephen, can I just play Devil's advocate here:
You say; "I was getting increasingly frustrated with the way you constatly corrected any mistakes that was there."
Surely it is a good thing that mistakes are corrected.
I make mistakes, sometimes ones that make me look a *complete* doofus; but I'd rather be corrected and look a doofus for a bit than be allowed to go on thinking that something was right when it's wrong.

he's no dork: he's Elvis Costlello's greatest sideman, having played on many great hits by the Attractions.

Richard, probably a stupid question, why do you bother replying to stuff like this, which doesnt merit any attention. I'm forced to agree, Steve. I did consider replying to Steven's latest confused diatribe, but having tried several times to read it, I realised that I just didn't have a clue what he was actually going on about! ;D Richard

What are the chances of having this thread locked? It's just six pages of none related responses.

Richard, probably a stupid question, why do you bother replying to stuff like this, which doesnt merit any attention. I'm forced to agree, Steve. I did consider replying to Steven's latest confused diatribe, but having tried several times to read it, I realised that I just didn't have a clue what he was actually going on about! ;D Richard Firstly, my name is spelt Stephen, not steven. Secondly I put it in simple terms you understand Richard. Repeating myself for the umptenth time, I do not dileribatly choose to ignore any advice from you or any information you correct. What I have a problem with is the way you give out the correct information, which is sometimes, rude, sarcastic and demeaning way, I have seen it also directed at other posters on this forum from time to time as well. You have asked me to provide back up of such matters, so I shall: If you refuse to believe such paperwork, then you're likely to spend your life chasing shadows.
Your "probably" there says it all. You're keen to make assumptions about what may or may not appear on paperwork that you've never seen and yet you're not willing to accept that NZ's copies of The Macra Terror have been destroyed by people who has done the research and who have uncovered very solid details relating to episodes that were in the hands of the NZBC.
And where, pray, have I done that? Oh, look, I haven't...Just a few of the comments I have found, naturally from these remarks you come across as a pompous know all. Thirdly, while I admit I have flung insults at you, some deserved and some out of anger, you have also flung insults back at me, some which have upset my partner as well as me, as she is often present when I visit this forum, which I shall back up with which you have requested, please see the following: [ i]But of course, little details like that wouldn't be of any interest to you, would they, Steve? It really doesn't take you long does it, Steve? Still, your track record speaks for itself so we can't expect much else, can we?
Oh, give us all a laugh and actually provide some proof of this, you silly boy.
But never mind, I'll happily go on as I've done for many years bothering to search out the facts and finding new material, whilst you carry on in your own personal dreamworld. You seem happy enough there.[/i] Finally, since everything I post is then attacked by you for whater reason, which then seems to escalate into an argument everytime, I suggest we learn to differ on different things, I am not talking about presenting facts I am talking about any ideas or therioes, or a different slant on something, where you then kick off on a rant based on what you feel personaly, which then winds each other up. Now I hope you can finally understand this post. Regards

Stephen - perhaps you should hit the preview button and sort out your italic tags before posting your thread, as I still can't make out what is Richard's post, and what is your reply!

Cant this bickering stop? Start acting like adults & not 5 year old kids please!!!! Maybe the thread was deleted as it might have encouraged all & sundry to bombard these TV stations with countless requests. Its possible that the mods &/or Ian Levine decided to handpick some people to do the requests, hopefully increasing the chances of a discovery. I agree. This little flamewar is really eclipsing Mr. Levine's really good idea. An organization dedicated to episode retrieval would go a long way in finding out what recordings exist out there, Doctor Who or otherwise.

Darn - I was hoping a reply would translate Steven's comments into English for me Stuart I don't have any quarells with you Stuart, so why the hostility. It wasn't hostility Stephen - it was an (admittedly not exactly Hancockian) joke, hence the smiley. You do seem to have a tendency to confuse any number of other things with hostility though. It would be helpful for all concerned though if you did some basic spell and grammar checking and sorted out your italics when quoting. Stuart

An organization dedicated to episode retrieval would go a long way in finding out what recordings exist out there, Doctor Who or otherwise. I know I've mentioned this before, but Mr Levine's idea, good or not, is already being done by Bill Spisby - and either way I suspect it will not have much success. I'd love to be proved wrong, but the often repeated fact that foreign TV stations will give more weight to requests from the BBC rather than some fans is surely completely and utterly and without chance of dissent, self-evident Stuart
