Hey, this is wonderful news. I have all episodes listed by quaint except for 1973.11.17 - s02e08 - PS - The New Level Crossing(Very Poor).mp3
A link to a source for this and the episodes listed by dogstar would be truly wonderful. I would be immensely grateful for such please.

I never released .The new Level Crossing' because I hoped that an improved copy would turn up. It would be nice if Dogstar replied as I am sure there are many of us who would like to hear the missing ones well recorded.

I am happy to share these episodes with anyone who wants them. The only problem is I don't know how to distribute them. Please could one of you point me in the right direction, a site where they could be uploaded as MP3 files for you all to access them would be easiest. Any suggestions welcome.
Cheers,
Marc.

I could send you a password protected link so you could upload them to my website and I could then post a download link here. Let me know if you wish to do this and I will PM or email the upload link to you.

Thanks to Rocles for the link. This is just what I was looking for. I have uploaded The Market Special, it can be accessed here - www.mediafire.com/?rgs2uwzboueIf someone would be good enough to let me know if it all works OK, I'll get the others on shortly. Cheers, Marc.

New to forum. I downloaded the episode you posted Marc and it works fine. I'm impressed by the quality.
I live in Australia moved here in 72 from england when I was 12 and had never heard of Parsley Sidings but am a big fan of Arthur Lowe and comedy radio.
The only problem with the file is for some reason it took 6 hours to download.
All I can say is well done I look forward to further episodes.

MediaFire is struggling today, probably its Bandwith getting hammered with this download Another good alternative is www.sendspace.com/ , this is great for short term, but gets deleted after around 2 weeks. Another one is www.fileden.com/

Dogstar, thanks very much indeed for that upload link. It took me over 2 hours to download, as I have a slow dial up connection, but well worth the wait. Cheers.

Hi thanks for these, Im only 33 but a loooong time dad's army fan.. In fact im in a production right now and have only just returned from rehersals.. (Im Pike!!) ive had a listen and what can i say.. THANKS !!! being the audio restorer I am I had a go at cleaning up the audio from the tapes and have posted the results on rapidshare (Adress to follow ) I made up 3 versions version 1 some "noise" taken out version 2 Some more "noise" taken out version 3 ALL noise taken out (not the kind of cleaning i like, but it might appel to those of the cloth eared type!!) you know like the "work" on the new DR WHO dvd's 1stly these took like 3 mins of work.. just a genral NR and a bit of eqing etc. these are not full restorations.. that would need flac's or at least WAV files to work on.. and more importantly a better transfer.. I had great trouble working with the mp3 as well. its a bit crap!! not your fault. but it IS a mp3.. I had a great deal of "birdies" (the result of mp3ing or exsessive NR) which of course nothing could be done with.. these almost ruin any attempt to work with the file.. and yes ive worked on much much worse. (a few thousand 16inch one shot acetates of local history) there is a herodyne whine which i diddent remove (need better transfer) and of course more time!! there is still a bit of 50htz hum. i killed it on version 3 but with a better transfer i think i could get rid of it for good i did some work on genral Noise Reduction , but it seems that the deck you used ort the tape itself (ive heard 10000's of tape transfers) and i think the heads are not "alighned" correctly. the 3 versions are me "mucking about" with the NR. I personly don't like NR.. its bloody well abused these days. and heck. i grew up with a large collection of big band 78's. if 20 years ago you told me :- " hey, i have a device that removes 10% of all surface noise and clicks/crackles" I would have payed ANY AMONT ON EARTH! to hear my precious discs 10% Cleaner!!. now with computers and any man and his dog able to do this. i find most if not all re-issues of (say 40's big band) appaling its not good enough to remove "some" noise, most of todays "restorers" take out say 90%-100% . which sounds crap. listen to say a nice sax solo or a bunch of saxes.. they are the 1st instement to be "killed" by too much NR, but i digress whenever i make any Tape transfer (reel or cassete) i clean the heads and then play a portion from about the middel of the reel and play around with the alighnment of the playback heads till the highest amout of "top end" and tape hiss can be heard, the hiss can be worked on and you end up (after a bit of work) with a top notch transfer. of course i lay down my tapes to a higher bitrate than normal 24bit by 48khz.. just to have that little bit more "headroom" for the cleaning to work. If these are on tape. I have the ultimate Cassete type deck to ever be issued. a Nakamich 582. i have 2 Mint decks.. which i use very sparingly. if you need a Real transfer all you have to do is ask and it's yours!!! rapidshare.com/files/114897225/market_restore_ver_01.rarthe zip is 75 megs with the 3 versions

Ade, 'dont tell them your name', you make the rest of us stand out as amateurs! I liked version 1 by the way so many thanks. Do remember that many of us dont see ourselves as 'trained restorers' but we are doing our best to put back into existence lost episodes from wherever we can get them. Often the tapes we receive our incredibly poor quality over recorded and generally dissappointing. The joy though is that we are concerned that this audio heritage is not entirely lost. I for one would welcome any hints or tips you can give us on using some of the 'effects' such as noise reduction to better advantage. Maybe you could start a help/basics of simple restoration thread for idiots like me here?
In the meantime Dogstar keep up the good work and I hope you will soon be able to release more from this great series soon.
