You'd need something like this i asume freespace.virgin.net/andy.valve/cv2000.htmor a specialst company to convert them. Looking through this listing, it appears too good to be true. Most if not all are 'missing' material. If this is real, then it has got to be the most important find to date

Hi
Kaleidoscope are going to bid on these tapes since the contents sound interesting.
We have access to the necessary equipment to play them and make digibeta copies so if they are missing the BBC can have them back in the best possible quality.
Of course, they may be blank or wiped over, in which case we lose some money.
I would prefer it if people did not bid against us to push the price up, because we will not spend hundreds on them, since these tapes are often unplayable and poor quality.
Thanks
Chris

I've had two experts look at them and they say that the tapes can feasibly hold the material, but I am double-checking it. Thanks for the tip.
Sadly with so many hoaxers around I dont want to buy a load of junk, lol.

Certainly looks interesting though confusing. Tape 1 mentions "Top of the Pops (totp) 14/9/72" and inbetween all the '72 songs there's "jarrow song-alan price" which is from '74.
Here's hopin'.

Don't bid for this lot, folks, as it's already in hand. We'd only be bidding against ourselves and our interests and upping the price!

If its in hand Laurence I'm happy to drop out and let you guys take over.
I just offer you the access to full digital restoration on to digibeta should you guys need it, courtesy of us.
:-)
Have fun.

Laurence
Assuming you are successful in obtaining the tapes and there is rare TOTP material that can be transferred onto normal video tape would you make this material available to fans of the show?
My nightmare is that someone is successful in bidding for the tapes and the material then never sees the light of day again.
I'm sure you wouldn't do that but I have to ask the question !!

Ive been hunting unsuccessfully for so long to find any remains of Cliff Richard's 1972 BBC series. There are 5 shows listed here (he made 13 that year) and all are officially missing so obviously i am keen to bid. The contents of the shows are all present and correct for the dates he gives which lends me to believe this lot is genuine. However it is essential this collection gets back to either Chris Perry or the BBC and not in the hands of a millionaire collector like Dave Clarke as we will never ever see these again in our lifetime. The only way of clinching the deal in my honest opinion is to put in an outrageous final bid. Something many will no doubt do so it would have to be truly outrageous.
Wouldnt it be beneficial if a bbc official could pay avisit to this guy yielding a big carrot? He could in effect double his money by allowing the BBC a copy for a fee and then selling the originals on as planned. They would have to act fast though. This once in a lifetime window of opportunity will be closed in a week.
Once the material is back with the BBC there are ways and means to get copies if readers have any doubts.

'He could in effect double his money by allowing the BBC a copy for a fee and then selling the originals on as planned.' But he doesn't own the copyright in these recordings!!
