The story of the 1966 TOTP is that someone who used to work on the show used to collect films and film equipment in general. When he came to sell his collection, his reels of film were included. Among the films was the complete 1966 TOTP that included 'Paperback Writer' & 'Rain'; apparently the collector didn't think it was of any great value!!. From there the film made it's way to a collector in the States - who IS very well aware of it's rarity!. The promo film for 'Come Together' is basically a collection of clips taken in and around Abbey Road, of fans and the local scenery; from what I can tell, there is no sight of the fabs - the picture is deliberately shaky in hand-held cine camera fashion. As far as I know, it was only aired once in the U.K., on a show the name of which escapes me at the moment, but I think it was a late night 'arts' programme. Apparently when the visual material was being collected together for the 'Anthology' documentaries, producers of shows from the sixties were sent letters saying that if they didn't hand over any promo films they had, Apple would go to court to get them back. As the producer of the show that showed the 'Come Together' clip said : ''Apple used to hand these films out like free sweets, now they threaten to sue people instead of saying 'could you let us have them back please?' ''. so can we asume that this episode still exists in full? 16 june 66?

As the BBC employee had the full TOTP show, we must assume he sold it as such. And no, the Beatles collector hasn't come forward yet. We can only hope.............

Yes, the story of the 16/6/66 TOTP print owned by that ex-BBC employee was related a while back in Record Collector by Keith Badman as well. We can only hope it surfaces eventually...

In answer to an earlier question. The dartless Beatles Help! promo does exist. It's available on various Beatles bootleg DVD's and tapes.

There are loads on ebay. I'm sure it's against forum rules to point you in the direction of such a thing on this board, however, drop me a line and I'll post you a URL of one I spotted the other day by return email. There's a VHS that closes in 30mins and a DVD on there too. me-forum@uk2.netWhen will Apple learn and put out a proper Beatles music promo collection?

a nice spread of acts I can see the beatles connection making it very valuable as long as the current owner keeps good care of it and if by any chance the collector reads this we don't wan't to take anything away from you but we would like to see the show if its the beatles clips you want to keep then we would also like to see the other acts minus the beatles after all the value of the show would remain the same even if you could let us have a copy of the whole show with the beatles clips edited out its the beatles performances that make it valuable obviously we would like the whole show but would settle for an edited version until you may let us to see the whole show in the future

the cliff richard "all my love" clip was a bit murky, it looks more like they played a video recording(jumps and lines rather like the byrds clip) could it be a repeat of the 30/11/67 or was it recorded for the xmass show or just a very bad TR copy its just that the rest of this show seems to ok quality wise when i looked at it on the bbc web site it looked ok but it does look a lot like a video repeat on the tv broadcast

"All My Love" was from the Christmas Show 1967. The Nov 67 show is missing. His performance looks like its on film in the studio so maybe it was a repeat from the November show anyway. While on the topic of 60s TOTP..... when did they discover the soundtrack to go with the surviving Feb 69 show. When i last did a search 7 years ago the BBC told me this was a MUTE recording. Cliff's contribution to this 27 February 69 show was "Good Times(Better Times)" It was featured on TOTP2 earlier this year but the soundtrack had a great deal of 'wow and flutter.'

Rumbers
Have you ever seen the full clip of The Shadows "Don't Make My Baby Blue" from TOTP's?
Also do you know if any of The Shadows appearences at the NME Poll Winners concerts still exists??
I am aware that you are a Cliff/Shads expert.
Thanks
