It happened to me too with some of the early cassette tapes I had of missing episode audios. Not only did the chap keep them, I later found out that he sold them! Richard Let's have a thread, Massive Betrayals.

Richard Let's have a thread, Massive Betrayals. I'm sure we'd pretty quickly go off-topic if we did that! I wonder whether Chris Perry really has made another statement or whether the press are just milking the one statement that he did make for everything they can? I wish I could find a way of expressing just how important this is for those of us who love the old series, and I really hope that things are moving in the right direction. Richard

I think a certain amount has been garbled, simply because the reporter didn’t really understand the subject.

I think a certain amount has been garbled, simply because the reporter didn’t really understand the subject. Yeah it seems like all Chris has said was "I know collector(s) that have missing episode(s) but they aren't going to return them any time soon" and now it's getting spun into "He knows the whereabouts of half the missing episodes!". Much ado about nothing it would seem.

This line from cbr.com is particularly misleading: Perry claimed that he and his team were aware of the location of the missing episodesMakes out as if he knows where all 97 are!!

Yeah I wish they would have actually quoted him instead of paraphrasing. You're right, "the missing episodes" implies he knows where they are all, and I sincerely doubt he would be that imprecise in what he said.

There are 8 episodes in particular, that are mentioned by name, that are said to be in the hands of private collectors. Those episodes are allegedly: Myth Makers 2 & 4, Smugglers 2 & 4, Highlanders 2 and Space pirates 4-6.
Of course, the episodes are mentioned based off the BritBox listing. Only Paul Vanezis and Phillip Morris know which exact episodes are in which private collection and they ain't telling for confidentiality reasons.
Private collectors will return missing episodes when they either die or are willing to part with the prints.
