I know I’m merely echoing myself from earlier in the thread but it bears repeating that, packaging-wise, these standard editions really don’t seem much of a downgrade from their limited predecessors. They’re an excellent alternative for those fans unwilling or unable to fork out the prohibitive sums to resellers for earlier, long sold out seasons. For once then everyone should be happy! I’ve got four of the standard editions on order - Seasons 12 and 19 are promised on Tuesday with 10 and 18 on the 5th July. In terms of “content” the difference seems to be a smaller booklet - but as my eyesight isn’t very good for reading…. Some of the prices for “Limited Editions” are…..out of this world. I’ve seen some advertised for hundreds of pounds and seen some sell for over £100!It was even worse for Season 12 (I.e. the first classic Who season to be released on Blu Ray) of which, prior to the announcement of that 2nd Ltd Ed print run, reached a high of £500-600 for a brand new, sealed set on the likes of eBay! Utter lunacy although good ol’ supply and demand I guess...

I hope the scalpers foolishy hope and sit on their first issue $500 sealed sets with faulty discs and the buyer opens em up "oh s***" and fires back WTF and finds theirs no more replacements.
One thing I always trust with anything that's sealed if you ain't opened it how do know everything's fine.

The only way to tell if you had the rare defective set, since they were sealed, was to weigh them!

I'd like to see you weigh a sealed set with a disc that was badly authored, youd have to measure it in bytes, Kb, MB ,gigabytes etc...

I had the Monty Python's Flying Circus DVD box with a couple of faulty discs, which I didn't find until months later!
As I had been given it as a gift I couldn't get a replacement.
Oddly my Blu-Ray player could play them better, & my laptop was even better again!

One thing I always trust with anything that's sealed if you ain't opened it how do know everything's fine. It will be quite easy to get a replacement disc the first “limited edition” set was reissued with a number 2 on the packing and now it’s set to be reissued again in standard packing with all the same content and fixed disc which won’t be limited. these “limited edition” sets seemed to be a toe dip to see if they generated enough money to continue with all the seasons, they sold out very very quickly (not sure what the limited numbers were) and now after 6 or 7 sets in they must have generated the money needed to continue on and so the “limited edition” sets are no longer limited (contents that is) and released in standard boxes along with a limited edition (limited meaning the cardboard and a couple of extra pages in the book). im holding off on these “limited” editions till they release the ultra 8k limited limited it’s the last time we will release these honestly sets, with one extra bonus feature of 3 random camera crew and a sound technician sitting on the bed discussing the episode.

I’ve enjoyed the couple of blu ray sets I’ve got. Season 14 had a wonderful tribute to Lis Sladen and the “Behind the sofa” featurettes have been very enjoyable.

8K? Gawd, i'll be looking forward to going through the old mediums to see what microscopic film scratch or video tape errors they missed.

My personal view is that the Blu-ray releases are likely to be the last releases of classic, i.e., real, Who we’ll get.

Here in Oz i've noticed nearly all the DVDs are no longer available so it's while stocks last in the stores and the flea 'markets' if you want them.

There is a whisper on Twitter that Season 24 UK release date has been pushed back a week to the 28th June - some people have had messages from HMV and Zavvi. I've not seen anything yet from Amazon, but just to make you aware.

I've not seen anything yet from Amazon, but just to make you aware. Amazon now confirmed as well. Oh well, only a week later. ....I still feel I’m practically the only one that’s actually looking forward to acquiring Season 24 and the promised 25 hours of behind the scenes footage! I optimistically attribute my enthusiasm to nostalgic affection rather than inherent bad taste...

Sorry, but I ain’t spending £45 on Season 24. I doubt I’ll get anything after Season 21.
imho the best reason for spaffing £45 would be to get something to keep for a while and then sell for loadsamoney to pay for other seasons!

I love S23-26 despite their flaws and I'm ridiculously excited about the extras on this set.
