Good article, lots of juicy info in there! It would also be nice to get more recent thoughts from them as this can be dated back to well before Fury from the Deep being released. But no rush - as others have said we have plenty of the colour era seasons to release. Would be nice to get one of them though hey!

Article strongly implies they want the best possible product 👍 Animations in place of MEs 👍

Nice interview with Chris Chapman on his involvement initially with the later end of the DVD range and mostly on the blu ray sets in terms of the newly recorded extra features: www.youtube.com/watch?v=jJps6o-nvIU

Any idea which seasons are next to be released?
Anybody know an incredibly old Gallifrean with a blue - not black - Police box who could nip forward in time to find out 😇?

Season 20 was put on hold due to the pandemic and they've recently started colour restoration work on Season 9. I'd put them down as fairly safe bets for 2022, no idea what the final set for this year will be though. I'd imagine it will be a Tom Baker season just to get the numbers down.

Season Nine would be the obvious Pertwee - if the funding could be found to recolour Dinosaurs 1 which could then be mixed with the colour recovered version Season 11 is straightforward. Season Seven is, yes, well….
imho the picture quality of Season 9 is pretty good, nothing major although a couple of episodes of Sea Devils that were 525 line would get a few more % from a touch of DNR.
Season 13 has some excellent stories, but what about the Key to Time?
There are plenty of treats ahead imho 👍

Oh nice one - hadn't heard about them starting work on series 9. Nice to hear. Yes, Season 20 was being worked on as per Janet Fielding's twitter giving the game away some time back. Hopefully they will finish that off soon, but TB season does seem likely next like you chaps say. Key to Time would do for me! Haven't watched that in a little while!

Some of the Graham Williams era is actually pretty good - I’ve got nothing but praise for the magnificent “City of Death” which is just 👍 He had tremendous problems compared to Philip Hinchcliffe but I saw it all when first broadcast, I enjoyed it then and there are still plenty that are worth watching 📺 40+ years later👍

City of Death is my all time favourite Doctor Who story, with some of the best comedy and one liners.

I know I’m merely echoing myself from earlier in the thread but it bears repeating that, packaging-wise, these standard editions really don’t seem much of a downgrade from their limited predecessors. They’re an excellent alternative for those fans unwilling or unable to fork out the prohibitive sums to resellers for earlier, long sold out seasons. For once then everyone should be happy!

City of Death is my all time favourite Doctor Who story, with some of the best comedy and one liners. It’s certainly in my top ten, maybe top half dozen, stories. What makes it so good is how everything comes together. The location work is brilliant, and completely appropriate. The casting is… 👍 Catherine Schell, Julian Glover and of course the cameos from John Cleese and Eleanor Bron. Tom is jokey, but not to excess as he could be in that era, and he and Lalla spark off each other wonderfully. I’m not sure how many marks out of ten Borussa would award but they’re all very well deserved. I suppose it’s the Dr Who equivalent of “The Trouble with Tribbles”. Anyone wanting to condemn Graham Williams should be told of the circumstances he was in - and then point them at “City of Death”.

I’ve got four of the standard editions on order - Seasons 12 and 19 are promised on Tuesday with 10 and 18 on the 5th July. In terms of “content” the difference seems to be a smaller booklet - but as my eyesight isn’t very good for reading…. Some of the prices for “Limited Editions” are…..out of this world. I’ve seen some advertised for hundreds of pounds and seen some sell for over £100!

I really don't get the love for city of death. Then again I think most of Adam's stuff is heavily overrated. Pirate planet is quite good but that's it. Season 17 is probably my joint least favourite season along with 24. I alarm ward really grates on me but shes got competition from Rani impersonating mel.for me season 13 and 16 are the tom gems. Season 13 is bursting with glory to the point I think it may well be the last one they do like zygon was the final release of the original dvd range. Such a shame mary tamn won't be on the sofa for season 16
