Is 1st Doctor Blu-ray definitely happening? I don’t see any release date anywhere. I’m reluctant to tie up my fund if it’s not a (relatively) definite go. Of course it is. It’s already been announced.

Yeah they don't usually give a date when they announce them. I think it's because the first 5 or 6 got delayed so they announce them then stick a release date closer to them go to print so they are more sure its a set date. One of the things that's really surprised me is the Ukraine had a large portion of blu ray pressing related business it's what delayed season 22 and has had a knock on effect of some limited edition games I've ordered as well. Also I'm pretty sure amazon's pre order system doesn't take the funds until day of release because they do price protection that youl pay the lowest amount advertised during pre order. But it's been a while since I looked it up and it might of changed.

Not a massive amount, but certainly less that the sets eventually went for online.

Just to confirm that is still Amazon’s policy: the customer is only charged on dispatch not preorder plus a potential discount if the price fluctuates (in the customer’s favour obviously) between preorder and release. I wish more companies would do likewise tbh. Certainly helpful for me as I have to strictly budget my spending and am often unable (and unwilling) to pay up front for something costing £40+ I know or expect to not actually receive until 6+ months later! …now if only Amazon would stop allowing preemptive, often moronic, ‘reviews’ for things nobody actually owns yet on account of still being months away from release. Season 2 has already got 10 ‘reviews’ at the time of writing...

Same thing happened with every release of Jodie whitakers seasons. I personally detest the show in its current form. But it had crazy numbers of reviews half 1 star slating it before they'd seen it and half 5 star virtue signaling and counteracting the 1s. All reviews false and pointless as no one had seen any of it yet. I agree reviews should be open to verified purchasers after delivery

I usually shy away from purchasing things from mega monster Amazon these days. Site I was going to order from takes your money at time of order. Hence the question. Thanks for the responses.

I've got to be honest these references have gone completely over my head. Might be the early shift at work or having a slow day. But I'm coming up blank

Well why not explain it instead of just putting unconstructive ramblings if you've got a point I'd love to hear it, weigh its merits or flaws and discuss it.

Small thing, but important for OCD me!
With the new logo for the show being announced yesterday, along with the distribution of new episodes via Disney plus for those outside the UK & Ireland, RTD commented on Twitter that the collection sets would retain the existing logo. Phew!

I'm glad it's not being changed; I wasn't too worried if I'm honest RTD probably collects them himself. I wouldn't be surprised if he's in these forums somewhere

With the new logo for the show being announced yesterday, along with the distribution of new episodes via Disney plus for those outside the UK & Ireland, RTD commented on Twitter that the collection sets would retain the existing logo. Phew! That’s good to hear, makes everything nice and consistent! That said and perhaps slightly contradicting myself here but I still wish the logos used for the ‘Collection sets had replicated the show’s logo of the time rather than Nu Who. Indeed, having the glorious 70’s diamond logo emblazoned upon 4th Doctor season boxes would’ve looked great. Oh well, far too late now! … on a related note I see that Blu-Ray.com is claiming the impending Season 2’s release date to be December 5th now. If accurate (not confirmed yet) then no great surprise really I guess. That said, one can never be too sure these days what with ongoing shortages/logistical issues et al plaguing certain goods due to various external influences…
*EDIT: Now confirmed by Amazon, Season 2 is scheduled for December 5th. Can’t wait!*

Yes, fantastic treat before Christmas to get the Season 2 set! Can’t wait to dive into that! Saw this video the other day and found it interesting - not normally bothered by unboxing YouTube things, but this had the involvement of Lee Binding (who does the artwork on the sets if you weren’t aware), and I found it fascinating - especially his hopeful comment on the Wilderness years! youtu.be/8FHquPc2IPo

Does anyone please know; will the original series 2 (Hartnell) blu ray collection definitely get - or at least what's the likelihood - a re-release in the UK in "standard" packaging? (I'm guessing all the other original series complete season sets released so far did?).
And likewise will it definitely get re-released as an American version (as Region 0)?
I'm asking as my storage space is rather limited (or more likely I've already got far too much stuff!) so would prefer it in smaller packaging if I can be sure it'll be released in such a smaller format in time.
I have the present release, scheduled for December 5th 2022, on pre-order but am thinking of cancelling & waiting for a USA release or a UK standard packaging release for the reason mentioned. It'd be nice to hear what people think. Thanks.

Does anyone please know; will the original series 2 (Hartnell) blu ray collection definitely get - or at least what's the likelihood - a re-release in the UK in "standard" packaging? Well there’s certainly been no hint that standard packaging releases will exclude certain seasons and I can’t see why they would tbh. The only likely difference with Season 2 would be RRP as the upcoming Limited Edition is higher priced than usual - probably to reflect the protracted length of 60’s seasons compared to what followed which is understandable. As for a U.S. release of Season 2, again don’t see why not however there’s always the chance that the series is cancelled due to falling demand and/or early, creaky sixties ‘Who being considered commercially unviable in certain territories. Unlikely of course but not impossible… Regardless, if Season 8 (Pertwee’s second) is anything to go by - released in standard packaging next week (Nov 14) here in the U.K., you’ll have about a year and a half to wait for Season 2 (The Ltd Ed of Season 8 was originally released in early 2021). If you can wait that long then…
