Only smiling ruefully about the NHPs yesterday, and how we hadn't been able to mark off the last one or two TP led us to anticipate.
Great news! I'm all eager now.
Number: nine. Number: nine. Number: nine...

Good old Talking Pictures TV. The only real time TV channel we bother with these days Hmm. BBC4 has a lot of unusual stuff popping up from time to time. They recently re-screened 'Mother Love' as part of their tribute to Diana Rigg more than thirty years after its first broadcast. Lots of repeated music docs from past years and the odd dramatic gem like this.

Good point Paul, I do get fed up though with the regular threats to axe BBC4 so, I suspect like many others, have pretty much weaned ourselves off it & looked elsewhere to lessen the blow when it happens. I think the last thing we watched on BBC4 was the Francesco Mediterranean Voyage series which we really enjoyed. The other thing about TPTV is that it’s pure nostalgia. The news we find totally unwatchable these days because of the content, so we watch either Scotland Yard or something similar instead.

TPTV show some interesting stuff and they’ve fulfilled some requests of mine.
I do think that “lost” is sometimes misused, although they often put it in quotes.
I’m unsure as to whether some of the things they categorise as “lost” are where they open a film can and go “Wow!” - like PM when he got to Jos - or whether they’ve just been unavailable, and therefore not broadcast, for decades.

Quite right. I suppose as far as the viewing public are concerned it’s an academic point. It’s “lost” to the viewers if it’s never broadcast as opposed to missing from the archives.

If (fingers crossed) these are all missing episodes, No Hiding Place will be doing pretty well for a classic British b&w crime show. With the exception of Sergeant Cork, which exists in its entirety, isn't the situation with these shows pretty dire?

I just think its great that TPTV are making an attempt to actually show these things. Ive got to say though i would hate the channel to become just a tv show channel. The films thay show are fantastic!!! Also, its great that when you send them an email, they actually reply!!!! Awesome!

Certainly the best channel in town, I remember the glory days of Bravo in the early 90s (before it became a dum Men's outlet) and I think TPTV is the next best thing to whar Bravo was.

I used to really enjoy Bravo in the early 90’s. Good mix of old ITC stuff & newer imports. Like you I was gutted when it changed content. Does anyone remember what the following two Bravo shows from that time were called? A manga type cartoon series that flipped between modern day & the ancient super continent Pangea and a series following two run away teens that have been genetically altered & were being hunted by the suits who wanted to kill them? We used to enjoy both.

TPTV are showing "The Champions" - Just trailed - Not been on ITV for a while, they showed a long forgotten favourite of mine The Children's film Foundation serial - Ghost of Monks island (1967) after I asked Sarah Cronin about it at an event in Stockport - They now seem to have attracted some big company mainstream advertising which has helped their budget for future acquisitions.

Their audience has grown which attracts advertisers although I believe 2020 was a bit tight.
They’ve also had some very favourable media stories and more places are taking their listings.
