Won't let me - I suspect it has a minimum characters limit for a search. Sorry about that, but there are quite a few abbreviations used here - and MP is fairly common.

Great stuff - already looking forward to the next thread - discussing the potential Singapore episodes resting place being the oft-rumoured site of the 'Africa haul'!
Encouraging to hear TP4 could be in the hands of a private collector.
Any luck ascertaining if the 3 existing TP eps are indeed Singapore copies through identifying if there ARE indeed advert splice marks on the reels? Has anyone ever investig!ted this? Also, shouldn't the War Machines and Ice Warrior reels be examined for similar splice marks as these are alleged to have been returned from Singapore are they not?

A friend of mine did some brilliant digging yesterday to ascertain that the BBC copies do not have splices. Yes - I'd love to see a list of which films have them! However, The War Machines found in Nigeria is definitely the Singapore/NZ copy.

However, The War Machines found in Nigeria is definitely the Singapore/NZ copy. I'm not sure there would have been advert breaks in Singapore. The listed running times are usually always 25 minutes, with the odd few at some 30. Sure, DW eps were often just under 25 mins allowing for maybe a minute or so of filler, but adverts could easily be played in between each programme, which wouldn't require splicing, rather than during which would.

I guess we need to know: 1) are there splices during the FTB’s in The War Machines? 2) Where are the splices in Enemy and Web? There’s one being repaired in a video by Paul. 3) Are there splices in the FTB’s in anything else from Nigeria? Well at least we know for sure there aren’t any in Tenth Planet. That at least rules out *something*

That at least rules out *something* One issue with Fades-to-black is some TV stations would reduce them or edit them out completely as it would create a black 'dead' transmission space. And with prints being bicycled around, there would be the odd splice break or film break that would need fixing, and frames would sometimes be removed during that process. So, a print with splices in it - either at FTBs or not - would not necessarily be one that was shown by a commercial TV station.

Thanks, Tim! This is so good - am listening to it now and want to ask you about Derek Dodd's on set POTD photos:
Were there 21 in total - this appears to be the number auctioned. Were they scanned for future publication online or in DWM? Or does the private purchase of them preclude that?

Maybe they are being saved for a season 4 blu ray collection feature if they're available. Hope so that would be a great addition

Were they scanned for future publication online or in DWM? Or does the private purchase of them preclude that? There were 23 medium format colour negatives auctioned plus recently made prints of each photo. This comprises two twelve-frame rolls of medium format film, excluding the eleventh frame of the first roll: the portrait of Troughton in the communications room, which at some point was cut out and separated, now perhaps lost. The first roll was shot during the studio day for Episode Two and the second was shot across Episodes Three to Six. 18 of the 24 photos were included on the Special Edition Blu-Ray photo gallery. Curiously, "col negs. Dr Who. Wheel" was written on one of the neg wallets.
