Ah! I knew This was going to happen, two more serials to complete Season 5, should be finished next week....
but I will find it hard that anything will top Enemy of the World.....that ending is just mind blowing!
I will vote when I finish!

You know, I can't believe that I didn't notice this before, how Season Five echoes (Troughton's part in) Season Four by opening and closing with the same monster (Daleks in S4, Cybermen in S5). Just imagine if S6 could have been bookended by Ice Warriors (or Yeti)!

I'm going to have to wait for them to all be returned to the BBC before I can vote.
It's kind of like my 50th Anniversary marathon. I only got through the first 13 episodes ...

Ah Season five, Many monsters, Many great stories. My guess is a three way tie between Tomb/Web/Fury. I went for 043. Happy Voting! I've been looking forward to this poll ever since they became a monthly thing. Season 5 is without a doubt my favourite of the six seasons that we got in the 60s. I went for Web, as it's not just my favourite story of season 5, but my favourite story of Doctor Who's entire 50 year history!
P.s. When it comes to it, are we going to do the new series, or end the polls at season 26?

Well, keeping in the spirit of Missing Episodes. I might end it at Season 6. Or perhaps season 11 to accommodate the arguably 'Missing' status of colour Pertwee's. Regardless, once we get to the end a final poll will be made, with the winning serials for each season will be put together for a 'Best Serial of the Missing Era'. Sound good?

FURY FROM THE DEEP
It's a nicely atmospheric horror story with the "monster" kept well out of sight for the most part. Most of the horror comes from the possession or effects of possession. And it's written by dear old Victor. I'd love to see this one returned.

I wonder what this poll result would have looked like had it been run 12 months ago...

I wonder what this poll result would have looked like had it been run 12 months ago... Fury would be far higher up I imagine. Quite possibly. I'd be curious for anyone who voted for Enemy or Web to share if their votes have been influenced by the 2013 returns, and if so, what they would have voted for. (I voted for Fury, so I can't even kick it off, sorry). BTW, I'm only asking this because I suspect it would have been quite different, as Enemy was seen as something akin to the thorn amongst the roses for this season by a lot of people. I'm not concerned at the absence of social proof of my vote

It is interesting though, the extent to which stories are judged when they have only one episode to represent them. Enemy:3 is solid when in context but on its own is kind of dull. Underwater Menace:3 is silly on its own but Episode 2 seems to moderate that somewhat. Imagine if we'd had Enemy:6 all along instead! It would be interesting to see what would happen if additional episodes of Space Pirates suddenly showed up...

That sounds like a great idea to me! I think so far the results are: S1 - The Daleks S2 - The Time Meddler S3 - The Daleks' Master Plan S4 - The Power of the Daleks

I picked Tomb, but boy, I can make an argument for The Abominable Snowmen, The Enemy of the World, The Web of Fear, and Fury from the Deep. The audios for The Abominable Snowmen and Fury from the Deep are excellent; The Tomb of the Cybermen has been one of my favourites for years; and the recent recoveries of The Enemy of the World and The Web of Fear show just how good they were.
It is the joy I get from watching these stories that keep me hooked on the missing episodes.

Having picked Web, my choice will change if anything else turns up of course. Fury could well be better than most think. A real tough season in all...
