It was rumored that countries could have made dupe negatives from those prints though, when copies had to be sent to individual locations for local transmission in places like Australia. Not substantiated though. Itās slightly possible that a very small number of dupes were used in Australia but before microwave links they had an internal bicycling system - the air dates substantiate that.

Galaxy 4 wouldnāt have been high up on my list for animation but Airlock was pretty good š Season 17 is a but like the curateās egg, obviously thereās City of Death but then thereās Creature from the Pit and Nightmare of Eden. Apart from CoD and, hopefully, an episodic Shada itās pretty thin gruel. It has to be done sometime and Iād buy it. Season 17 is my single least favourite season of who. I personally think city of death is the most over rated classic who story ever. In saying that I'm not a fan of douglas Adam's both in and out of who (although pirate planet is good) I'l still buy it so I have the full set and thinking about it it will be the last season I buy with that mind set so it's all gold from then on. Galaxy 4 would be my second favourite pick for a hartnell animation closely followed by the celestial toy maker. I just hope it's done in the evil style and not web......assuming any of it is true š
I liked, and still like, City of Death - but fandom must never descend to the level of defining what is, or isnāt, good. To me itās one of those stories where everything comes together, thatās what, to me, makes a āclassicā. The JN-T era would see overseas locations, but in most cases they added little - Arc of Infinity and Two Doctors for example. With a story revolving around the Mona Lisa - probably the most famous painting in the world - Paris āworkedā and added to the story. Julian Glover and Catherine Schell were well used guest stars - and John Cleese and Eleanor Bronās cameos worked well. By then it had become the Tom Baker show and the humour/jokiness dominated but in CoD it was harnessed appropriately. The special effects and model work were good, everything worked. As with much of the Hinchcliffe era itās something that I can pull out over forty years after it was made, put the DVD in the player and be guaranteed a treat š

I believe this was the very start of the omnirumour. Then it escalated eventually to 90. Funnily enough the 16 episodes 'still missing' were Dalek Masterplan and all the episodes animated up to that point (Invasion, Reign of Terror, Ice Warriors). Thatās before Enemy/Web were announced but it could well be.

Has there ever been a rumour about episodes of The Space Pirates existing? š If there hasnāt there is now š Go back to just after the return of Enemy and Web and there was the (in)famous omnirumour which contended that everything, or virtually everything, that was missing was whizzing in our direction. Discussions sometimes got heated as there were a few who desperately wanted it to be true and refused to accept the, reasoned, objections. There were many problems - MEs coming by ship from landlocked countries being an obvious one! Then there were bunches of MEs that had never been together. It was obvious to some of us that it was a non-starter and years later nothing has come from it. Iām not sure exactly where it started but I reckoned it was being used as click bait.

Notice how it's always highly sought after episodes that these people have had the luxury of getting a private screening for? Aren't they lucky! Notice also that there only tend to be rumours about high profile MEsā¦..

Wasn't it around this time that the BBC filmed an intro for The Tenth Planet with Michael Craze because a collector claimed to have a copy of part 4 & were willing to let the BBC make a transfer, only to send them a blank tape? I think it was believed that TP4 was coming back in time for the VHS release.

I think they are suggesting phil keeping web 3 for leverage against any other episode. Personally I don't buy it. Mainly because although I think theres a good chance phil won't hand anything back until he's completed his search I do think he would be in contact with the bbc enough to tell them what he has or hasn't found and if the bbc really thought there was any chance of web 3 showing up any time soon we wouldn't of got that god awful animation they just shat out. I wouldn't be surprised if phil currently has a couple of me's either in his possession or with the ability to get possession but I still think when we hear of any itl be one big anoucment and that'll be it from Mr Morris He āhanded backā nine MEs.

I think he thinks that Phil would keep the missing episode as leverage. Which ME as leverage for what?

There is also the point that he may have kept on to it so he could use it as leverage in a trade for another lost episode if the need ever arose. Just a thought Who kept what?

TV is a hell of a treadmill. In the days of music hall an act only needed to be refreshed about once a year - maybe less - as it was continually being seen by a new audience. Look at Morecambe and Wise at the BBC and in their final few years they were only really doing a Christmas show. I recall the late Paul Daniels on TV - at the end he was dressing up tricks to make them last quite a long time.

Thatās useful - although sad - information. it might not be a bad thing - If I were as rich as Bill Gates I'd organise a leaflet drop (money for old film reels) in parts of Singapore. If Singapore is a small city state with not that big an English speaking community, that would work in my favour when targeting the leaflets. Ah, clutching at straws............. Weāre used to clutching at straws here!
