Thats from the 1973 Royal Variety Show (26th Nov 73). Cliff also performed Power To All Our Friends and Take Me High - though this latter track is missing in many edits of the show circulating on bootleg video.

Just as well they werent filmed. Ive seen their apperance on the Royal Gala Show (ATV) from November 1966 when they attempt to sing 'Gorgia'. Its out-of-key and truly cringeworthy .But oh yes throughout the performance Clarke maintains that toothpaste smile to the bitter end.

I'm assuming nothing at all survives from the 25th March 1961 Pollwinners Show listed by Kevin above?
Re Cliff and Shadows in the 1964 Show. This section of some 7 songs is definately missing. The only surviving clips are taken from the Pathe News Film covering the event. In it you see the Shadows performing a brief clip of 'Dance On' and Cliff singing 'Whole Lotta Shakin'.

Very true Peter, and with the demographic make up of Britain and Europe now changing so radically, who will be around in 20 years time to appreciate Cliff and the Shads anyway. Will anybody really care? This stuff should be released now.
Andy your making me work overtime identifying all these clips. Ill Come Running and FBI (vocal) is from Cliff's last ATV special from 24th May 1967. Devoid of any audience Cliff sang many songs from his current albums 'Kinda Latin' and 'Dont Stop Me Now' in this 40 minute show. I obtained a copy from Polygram in the early 90's . Now it comes up as lost in a search with new copyright owners Granada International. Unbelievable!
Flying Machine is taken from one of the few remaining BBC August Bank Holiday Specials from 1971 - entitled 'Getaway With Cliff'. Set exclusively on location in France , Olivia Newton John made a special guest appearance. The now famous clip of them getting married to the Beatles 'When I'm 64' is taken from this show
Good Times, Better Times - from Top of the Pops-(BBC)- 27 Feb 1969 (explained earlier in thread)
Day I Met Marie - taken from Shadows on Australian Bandstand - April 1968. The Shads performed 5 numbers in this programme.
Girl Youll Be A Woman Soon & Something (Hank Marvin) - from the joint BBC/Swedish production 'Cliff in Scandinavia' from October 1970. Featured songs and comedy sketches with Hank & Una Stubbs, similar in style to the 'Its Cliff Richard' series which aired earlier in the year.
Rock n Roll Medley is from the 1970 Cliff in Skansen concert - see the track listing above in response to Laurence Piper's request.
Sing a Song of Freedom - taken from BBC's 'They Sold A Million' 25th March 1973. Presented by Terry Wogan, Clliff co-starred alongside Vince Hill and Julie Rogers singing 4 numbers. The other three are 'The Next Time', 'Congrats' and 'Power to all our Friends'.
Finally, Silvery Rain - this is taken from Cliff's BBC 6 part 1974 'Its Cliff Richard' series - Show No 5 from 21st September 1974. This is the only surviving Its Cliff Richard series in BBC's archives, as the 1970, 1971 and 1972 13 part seasons are all missing. With the nature of Saturday night family entertainment fast changing, it was also to be his last, although he did continue with the BBC in other productions until 1975.

Hi Paul Early in the Morning Japan October 69 intrigues me - dont know whether the whole concert was recorded or just this clip. Nobody speaks English in the Korean MBC archives so god knows where this resides.
High n Dry is from 'Song For Europe' 5th March 68 Cilla Black Show. Survives in the BBC- often see it being flogged on ebay.
In The Country is from 'Europarty' French tv 28th September 1967. Cliff also mimed Day I Met Marie and the Shadows 'Tennessee Waltz' on this show.
The Day I Met Marie Clip "unknown 67" - this is from the Holland 'Waauw' show i referred to in above post. (21st March 1969)

Andy both those youtube clips are taken from 'Cliff in Copenhagen' from April 1975. Show survives in archives. It basically features a dozen songs with Cliff miming to the backdrop of various landmarks in Copenhagen. A series of early videos if you like.

Paul that clip is taken from an open air concert recorded at Skansen, Sweden during Summer 1970. The whole show survives in their archives. Its a shame 'Big Ship' doesnt survive, because several performances of the previous single 'Good Times, Better Times' do curiously exist . He sang it on Top of the Pops-(BBC)- 27 Feb 1969, the Cilla Black Show (BBC) 19th Feb 1969 and the Rolf Harris Show (BBC) 8th March 1969. All these performances survive. Why this tiny window in time should be well represented in BBCs archive is not known. Everything else seems to be missing.. There is also a surviving performance of 'Good Times' on Holland's 'Waauw' show from 21st March 69 which ive never seen. On that show he also performed 'Dont Forget To Catch Me' and 'The Day I Met Marie. A performance of the latter is on youtube.

There's quite a lot now Andy, including quite a lot of ATV material pre 1966 which has never seen the light of day. However when i enquired with Granada International recently a lot of shows have gone missing (or at least not logged) since 1992 when Polygram owned the copyright. Seems like we are moving backwards instead of forwards.

There is no known surviving performance of 'Big Ship' to my knowledge. From 69 to 72 there are quite a few singles with no surviving tv performances. Not a surprise considering this was Cliff's years with the BBC , and had his Saturday night series survived we would have a lot more to enjoy than is the case. Ive recently acquired a wonderful performance of Cliff singing 'Throw Down A Line' from French tv 1969.. Its a mime and minus Hank im afraid. But great to watch nonetheless. This 50th year would have been the ideal opportunity to compile a videography of Cliff's early singles for dvd release but the opportunity has been wasted. The Cliff Richard Organization is too preoccupied with the wine, hotel and perfumary businesses to even consider things that really matter historically.

Yea i was driving him potty about questions on the Lux tape formats and what happened to the masters. Of course he doesnt know. I find it hard to believe that noone took the opportunity either here in London or Luxembourg not to squirrel away some of this material before it all went into their bulk eraser. Apparantly this machine could wipe a spool clean for reuse in just 10 seconds. Oh the agony!!!

lol Tim you must be psychic I interviewed him just prior to your post! He's not aware of any Lux masters surviving either. Everything that has been released to date of various artists appears to be off-air recordings. Alan is a most personable guy - as he said to me 'Had i known i was making history at the time i would have recorded everything!'

Many thanks Darren for that info. Roger's dad must have had good equipment as recording Radio Lux was incredibly temperamental.
