Watched it a few times now but still can't guess what the songs might be.

Could be. Checking on the doc details all it states is.. "ARCHIVAL MATERIAL (sw/w): Honeybus on board a boat in Antwerp" That's the documentation for Twien, yeah? I think I saw that yesterday, that's why I knew it was Antwerp (don't think I would've guessed otherwise.) Anyway it would seem to prove that this footage is from Twien. It's unlikely they filmed two different videos for two different European shows, but both on boats. No that's from the 2004 documentary.

Assuming you're right about "Twien" being the source, has anyone been able to confirm what song was actually featured on that episode? As far as I can see "I Can't Let Maggie Go" came out in April '68, and then in September they released "Girl of Independent Means". So isn't it a possibility that the Antwerp ship footage was actually set to the latter song originally? I know in the 2004 doc it was set to ICLMG, but it would make sense for them to change it around since a) it's not lip-sync footage so could be re-used easily enough to accompany a different song; and b) the doc was about ICLMG specifically so a video of a different song would've been less useful to the producers. Just a thought. Very probable. They did perform 'I Can't Let Maggie Go' on a Dutch TV show called 'Fanclub' on 18th May 1968, but I'm not aware of any footage surviving from that show. Checked on the archive status of this edition all that exists are some photographs of the recording, so perhaps another show. "Recorded on 27-09-1968 transmitted 04-10-1968 - no holdings"

How about.. The Young Idea, or The Truth? Both appeared on TOTP at some point. Added! I've also removed Honeybus and Idle Race. Any other suggestions anyone? I would leave the Idle Race in the list as that Beat Club performance isn't really them.

Why would a short 3 min song be spread over 3 reels? Would the BBC not send a complete performance on one reel? The performance was mimed on the original tape. The clip is also incomplete. Originally in 3 reels but the third one has been lost, hence TopPop have looped the video they posted to make it look complete. It is the only clip from All Systems Freeman that currently exists, but still looking for more. Yes i would have thought that too, it's strange, perhaps the broadcaster spliced the footage up for some reason.?

Just watching this on YT and wondered what show it may be from? Looks like an insert performance on another TV show.

The Rollers one has always been in the ITV archive, just not seen until recently. I'm aware of that Paul, but Thomas Walsh asked about this episode (wondered if you have more info?): LIFT OFF (EPISODE 29) 24th August 1971 The Move / New World / The New Seekers ** May Exist at the BFI** Sorry mis read it. I checked on the 24th August 1971 which the BFI had listed in their archive but it turned out that they don't hold the show after all. Thanks for pointing it out, i should have updated the website.

The guy who runs that site, Paul Watkins, is a member of this forum. He may be able to add more info. The Rollers one has always been in the ITV archive, just not seen until recently.

It's a quiz show between "Swedes and Norwegians". Only 2 shows have been made available digitally & it is unknown if any others still exist, 1st July 1967 & 22nd July 1967. There is no music apart from the Bee Gees on either show.

Sounds like the source, i remember it now reading the thread. Either it was loaned to the BBC for this clip in the doc' or they have it in the archive.
