Nice performance uploaded today from Pinkerton's Assorted Colours. Not seen it before, anyone know what show it's from?. Looks like some BBC effects used on it.

That's a shame as it might have been worth recovering in the original audio. Maybe someone's got an off air? Not come across one myself.

Do you know how much of a voice-over is on the clip? QUITE a bit. Not just the name/song. That's a shame as it might have been worth recovering in the original audio.

this clip came from a Dutch TV show (details unknown).....and, according to a knowledgeable source at 192tv, it definitely was sourced from TOTP Ah yes, you're absolutely right, I found it now: "INTERNATIONAAL GEZIEN" 04-09-1968 by the NCRV ("Seen internationally", a program showing what was trending in other countries including some music). The broadcast has a Dutch voice-over, that's why the audio was replaced. Someone at 192 TV is clearly paying attention (and well done to him/her). Do you know how much of a voice-over is on the clip?

A great find here.... "24 November 1966, The Easybeats debuted on Top of the Pops' 150th episode, telecast to a regular viewing audience of 15 million, larger than the entire population of Australia at the time. It would eventually reach No. 6 on the charts. Featuring a live vocal from lead singer Stevie Wright, the group pre-recorded their performance at the BBC’s Lime Grove Studios in London’s Shepherd’s Bush." The Easybeats on TOTPYoutube link:

The video i posted above for Eleanor Rigby wasn't made especially for TOTP. So is it definitely the same one shown on TOTP? ..... Actually, I just referred to my own book on The Beatles ('The Beatles: Tell Me What You See'), and this is what I wrote: 08-09-66 – ‘Top Of The Pops’ Video (UK)Eleanor Rigby Again made for ‘Top Of The Pops’, and broadcast just the once on 08-09-66, this features a montage of still images of an actor dressed as a priest while in a Manchester churchyard. Even at the time, viewers must’ve found this underwhelming, despite the undoubted high quality of the accompanying soundtrack. So it seems this is NOT the TOTP video. I doubt that this is the video, i was just pointing out that it may have been the video seen by Stephen. The Move's promo was made to promote FITR on TOTP but was also made available for the general public to purchase a copy as Thomas has posted.

Many of the promos shown on TOTP in the 60's were made in colour. Not all directors were using B&W film. Paul, that is certainly the case for promos directed by people like Peter Whitehead and sent out to a variety of different world-wide shows, but I can't recall any that were made specifically for TOTP being in colour before November 1969. Looking at the list on your own (excellent) site, most of the TOTP videos I've seen from the 1964-1968 era have been in black & white: nostalgicmusictv.x10host.com/totppromos.htmThe one exception is The Move's 'Flowers In The Rain' which I didn't think was made solely for TOTP, though I'm happy to be proven wrong (maybe Thomas Walsh knows for sure?). The Move like many others artists filmed these for inclusion on many of the TV shows of the time.

Is this a recent find or has it been around for years?

These preview programmes were first shown in 1971. They broadcast them every year until 1993 on BBC1. In 1994 they did an abridged version of the previews, and after that they ceased showing them on BBC1. The BBC has retained them from 1976 onwards. But the 1977 UK pre-selection show doesn't exist as it was never recorded,or am i confusing it with something else?.

Shame yes. It doesn't look like more than a minute of audio matches the film, the rest of the audio doesn't match the rest of the film. Haven't seen this before.
