Ian Levine has announced that he has tracked down 5 episodes of Patrick Troughton stories from season 6. Sadly they are all duplicates of existing episodes. The episodes were located with an American Radio broadcaster in Taiwan. The episodes were apparently shown to American forces during the Vietnam War!
Nevertheless, it is heartening to know that new (and unusual!) avenues are being explored and that the search is still turning up surprises!
the episodes discovered are
The Dominators 2 & 3 The Seeds of Death 2 The War Games 1 & 2
Kudos to Ian for all his efforts on this one.

If it's correct then it's interesting for a couple of reasons. Firstly, it potentially provides information to those unraveling bicycle chains and working out how many prints were struck. Secondly, it's possible that they might be slightly better copies - as the Nigerian WoF1 was.

I wonder if anything from The Space Pirates is knocking about anywhere there?

It's on his Twitter feed, says he kept Paul Vanezis informed and had been following the lead for a while. Thought there were eight, turned out to only be five.

Ian Levine tweeted about it this morning.
Interestingly, he also said that there "were supposed to be eight" episodes but they could only find five, and that he was disappointed that Space Pirates wasn't among them. Let's hope this isn't the end of this avenue of enquiry....

Cool Along with prints on ebay.. Finds in Africa.. this is turning out to be a great year in proving that prints/films are still out there. Well done to Ian Levine. I don't know the full deal with him, but he seems to cop a great deal of critisism on various web boards twitter etc. I , for one , am glad he is still searching for lost stuff Go team "missing episode hunters"!(or in this case.. existing episode hunters).. Hope they can improve on the quality of what exists., or they say.. oh and btw.. here's a few dozen more films

This news makes me even more hopeful that the rumors of more lost episodes being returned are true.

This news makes me even more hopeful that the rumors of more lost episodes being returned are true. Agreed. In a way, I think we could be moving into a period of several findings before the stream of missing episodes dries up for good. As global communication technologies improve, the chances of finding episodes will increase, as it is far easier for people to check out leads/build a bigger picture of where these prints ended up and how they were passed on. Wouldn't surprise me if we got everything back that we're going to get back in the next few years.

Great news and well done Ian. It'll be interesting to find out the origin of these prints. It could be that they are Australian copies that found their way to US servicemen via the Australian armed forces who served in Vietnam until 1972. I wonder is Dominators 3 edited?

Ian's heart is in the right place but he sometimes has all the subtlety of a tsunami ! As opposed to the Swiftian subtlety generally exemplified by this board.
