The second session will feature vintage 1960s comedy sketches and music - no new Dr Who episodes I'm afraid but some excellent stuff nonetheless. Dick Sadly can't make it. By the way thank you for bringing MBW to Edinburgh it was a fantastic event and I hope it will return. Ian - F -

Dick Will there be any clips of drama finds this year. Also do you plan to have a season next year at the BFI to show more recovered TV as this has been a great year for finds in missing TV ?

I have been to most of the MBW annual events over the years and quite a few of the one-offs too. The documentary in session 1 sounds fascinating and hopefully the panel discussion can update us on any current leads and help us gain a perspective on what may or may not be forthcoming before we are treated to the usual eclectic mix in session 2. There is far more to archive TV than Doctor Who...

I can't believe it's 20 years since I attended the first MBW! Where's that time gone?! I'm greatly looking forward to this event though as the selection of rarities on offer is never less than fascinating.

No drama screening at this year's MBW per se, but there is a dramatic edge yo the BBC3 sketches.

The panel discussion at the start of the second session should be interesting. I imagine a certain topic will come up...

I'll be attending this for the second year. My interest in film has really spawned from Doctor Who restoration and recovery but I can see these events really widening my scope of interest. I'm now in the sixth form and would be interested to see if there's any work experience opportunities in the area of film restoration or archiving and wondering who will be at this event who it might be worthwhile taking to? I've briefly spoken to Dick at some of Doctor Who events but never got a chance to properly. Thanks

I bought tickets a while ago - I don't think they've sold this well before. There may be a few on sale at the box office immediately before, but this would need checking.

The last MBW to sell out was I believe on 11 December 2011 when "Airlock" and The Underwater Menace 2 from an almost forgotten TV series about a traveller in space and time were annouunced/screened - my 53rd birthday too...
Don't take the sell out this year as meaning something similar unless there is a card up someone's sleeve...

A sell out will no doubt be partially be because some people expect something to be announced and/or screened from that show but it is doubtful. Well, there might be an announcement, but one that destroys certain rumours floating around.
Still, the efforts are on-going for many shows so we should wait and see, we will know tomorrow (or the day after if they really want to keep things hushed).

Well there were some unoccupied seats at both shows today, perhaps the weather stopped some coming long distances.
I really enjoyed the first showing (The documentary) despite thinking I saw my own face in a couple of audience shots of events. It was a good look back on the 20 years. It also shed more light on how Phil Morris's scheme worked and the reason his company sounded the same as the distribution company that originally handled the prints. (It sounded better that that company was asking for them back) And that letters of authorisation form the BBC and ITV (Via the BFI who archive for them) were given to him to show to TV companies there.
The question and answer session in the second part was more of a talk with, I believe, only two questions asked neither of which were about how much had been returned from Africa). Highlight of the show was the singer on the Lulu show whose song sounded at one point like something CPO Pertwee would give to Commander Povey to read out at a social event "We'll have a kid, or maybe just rent one. I hope that he's straight, 'cause we don't want a bent one". That nearly brought the house down!!
I'm feeling rather tired now so will allow others there to fill in details.
