I played a gig in Edinburgh back in August 1980, at a club called Eric Brown's ...

Hi Shelley, I don't remember Eric Brown's probably because it was situated in Dalry Road which is Enemy Territory (Football wise) for me. I support Hibernian FC who play in the North East of the City Centre at Easter Road. Anyway, did you enjoy the gig's? I believe it was a pub? I have included this link for you, scroll down alphabetically and it includes Eric Brown's, pictures, and a gig guide for early August 1980 ( I hope it brings back some memories) www.edinburghgigarchive.com/page27.htm

Scottish TV under Liam Hood was prolific in the 1970s with providing short / long plays to the ITV Network. Grampian seemed to be expert at sex education LOL The BBC of course had things like Stramash
So its a pity this MBW event is going for the easy life and looks like its going to unimaginably concentrate on the Scottish stereotype, with programmes such as Dr.Finley's Casebook..yawn

That gig, William, was a disaster, but great fun. I broke a bass string, the lead player broke 2 strings ... we'd had a huge argument with the drummer and his girlfriend the day before ... all typical band stuff. Then the van broke down on the way home. Great memories now ...
I'd discovered the Edinburgh gig archive site a couple of years ago when reconnecting with my old bandmates (we did a spot at me & my partner's civil union/handfasting). I sent the site owner a photo of Eric Brown's I took at the time for him to put on his site. He sent me back a pic of the flyer featuring the date we played there (28th August, 1980), which wasn't featured on the site ... but sadly, hasn't used the pic I sent him. Oh well ... and he was so pleased to get it too *shrugs*.

Meantime I hope the venue has a decent attendance on the day as I would like to see it turn into an annual event. As I said before,it would be great if we could get organisers to arrange this event to co-incide with the World Famous Annual Edinburgh Festival/Fringe. If you have'nt been to Edinburgh during the Fringe, it is "Amazing" the city (explodes)with tourists and the world's media is here in droves. What an opportunity it would be to highlight our continuing search for "lost TV"

I'm a bit like that as well, I tend to look at my past with "Rose Tinted" specs, even the bad bits!

I believe MBW is coming to the North-West of England next year, then the South-West the year after. In future it will be an event where all the major conurbations of the UK are visited in turn.
Sorry, just socially aware up.......

it came by surprise when I read it's coming to Edinburgh on the 1st of December because 'missing believed wiped' was one of the many events I always wanted to go to,but at this time I canna go because of my work getting ready for the Christmas rush. I will be going but where in Edinburgh will it take place & what time does it start?

It's at The Filmhouse in Lothian Road Edinburgh, opposite The Usher Hall Lothian Road is a main road which links to the West End of Princes Street I don't know what time it starts at yet, see my links earlier in this thread.
