It was quite nice to see Paul debunking rumours again over on GB, and rebuking DWO for firing up fans... again. Indeed, but there's one regular in that GB thread who never lets the truth get in the way of a good rumour, and whips things up far too much. Fortunately he is not in this forum. DWO need to abandon comments like 'there's a big piece of classic-related series news coming'. It really does no good whatsoever. I agree. It appears as if DWO is trying to draw attention to themselves. They stirred up a bunch of fans back in 2007 with their Web of Fear report and provided no answers to the people. It appears as if they are doing the same thing now because people are fired up and there are no explanations.

Whatever this imminent announcement is (and I know of two big news stories that the BBC could announce which aren't related to the New series) I can assure you that the BBC isn't going to announce a missing episode recovery tomorrow, Tuesday or any other day this week And then begins the mad fanatical theorizing that he means the announcement will come Monday next week!

I don't know why people can't just accept Paul's denials at face value...

As technology continues to improve and communication across the whole world gets better and better with broadband and easy internet access there's the hope that old prints will either be resold online or be rediscovered as archives are transferred to digital formats. It's not such a silly idea, the missing Avengers episode (Girl on A Trapeze) turned up precisely because UCLA happened to post their holdings online via their own website. Fantastic! Wonderful to have a precise and solid example. If I get a reply back from St Anne's, I will definitely bring this example to their attention. So they know that it's not just some crazy wibbling on my part.

I don't know why people can't just accept Paul's denials at face value... Because people want to believe in that vain hope that the 62 missing episodes from their beloved Troughton will one day turn up. And because we're as stubborn as flies on dog poop.

I mean I met a fan only last week who was STILL insistent that Power of the Daleks was shot as an experimental colour production, and only broadcast in black and white, but somewhere out there was a Power of the Daleks to be found in full colour, and he knew so because his mate saw it at some mega fan's house in the 80s. I didn't even know where to begin debunking that.

EVIL OF THE DALEKS WAS SHOT IN 3D???
I'm gonna tell ALL the fans.
Imagine if you were stuck in a time loop like Groundhog Day but it was April 1 and you were a diehard missing episode hunter.
It would be a nightmare...

I did hear a rumour that the location shots for Evil Of The Daleks were made in colour, but it was debunked in a DWM feature on Dr Who myths years ago.

That originated from a garbled report that a 'missing 7-part colour Troughton story' had been recovered from Canada. This actually referred to the discovery of the colour tapes for 'Inferno'.

This may shock you to learn this, but every Doctor Who story was made in colour.

That's not true Jon, they painted everything and every one black and white like they did with Dorothy when she went from farm house to Technicolour Munchkin land

I think what he ment was although the 1963-69 series were in black and white the sets and costumes were in colour.look at the rehearsal photos on macro polo and the war games.they look really colourful despite being in black and white.there are also colour photos of the cybermen on the steps in front of st.paul from the invasion(1968).
